Biografía

Ana Torroja, es una cantante española.. Nació en Madrid, España. La joven cantante viene de una familia prestigiosa y reconocida en España, lo que le permitió adelantar estudios de calidad e irrumpir en el mundo de la música con cierta facilidad. Su padre, José Antonio Torroja Cavanillas, II marqués de Torroja, era un prestigioso ingeniero de caminos, pero también era un gran pianista. Mientras que, su madre, María del Carmen Fungairiño Bringas, se desempeñó como enfermera. Desde el año de 1974 conoció a José María Cano, y al poco tiempo de conocerse, comenzaron a vivir una relación amorosa que duró unos 3 años. Luego, empezó a dedicar a su estudio e ingresó a la carrera de economía, pero su carrera musical fue más importante y decidió abandonarla.

Sus inicios formales en la música se dieron en la década de los 80 con su primera banda: Mecano, conformada junto a los hermanos José María y Nacho Cano. La banda se mantuvo durante once años. Sus mayores éxitos como solista son A contratiempo, Ya no te quiero, Veinte mariposas, No me canso, Sonrisa, Tu habitación helada y los duetos Corazones (con la colaboración de Miguel Bosé) y Duele el amor (al lado de Aleks Syntek). Ana desarrolló en Mecano un look un tanto masculino producto de las interpretaciones de temas escritos por sus compañeros de la formación musical. Para el año de 1992, Ana decidió tomar un rumbo como solista, empezó a entrar en contacto con productores y compositores. Pero, fue un trabajo difícil, porque todos la asociaban al estilo de Mecano y ella pretendía cambiar totalmente. Dos años después, en la ciudad de Londres, la artista presentó su primer material, llamado Puntos Cardinales.

Fue descrita como una balada romántica latina. También se editó una versión para el mercado francés, Points cardinaux, que incluyó tres temas en idioma francés. Ana iba a realizar la promoción del disco en territorio francés, pero tuvo que aplazarlo a última hora porque comenzó un trabajo musical con los integrantes de Mecano. En ese sentido, lanzaron el disco Ana|Jose|Nacho. Lamentablemente, en la entrega de los premios Amigo, José María Cano, anunció la separación definitiva del grupo. Durante ese tiempo, la artista española realizó el tema Cada historia junto a Sole Giménez, en ese entonces vocalista de Presuntos implicados. En 1997, colaboró junto con Abed Arzié en el tema «Media Luna» del grupo francés Deep Forest. Llevo a cabo una colaboración, con el cantautor neoyorquino Jason Hart, en el tema Hold on (2005).

Con Pasajes de un Sueño, retomó su carrera. Logró transmitir su carácter latino y cosmopolita, con ritmos latinos, con sabor a cumbia, a merengue y a son. La cantante advirtió que fue un gran trabajo porque le ayudó a experimentar su identidad y también para entender que quizá debía seguir buscando melodías y sonidos musicales diferentes. El material fue realizado en la ciudad de Nueva York, en donde la cantante interviene activamente como compositora. En la etapa de promoción del álbum, inició junto Miguel Bosé el tour Girados, estuvo en España, Estados Unidos y algunos lugares de América Latina.

En 2001 lanzó el álbum titulado Ana Torroja. Aunque, realmente no fue un álbum que le haya gustado, pero sirvió porque le permitió producir su siguiente trabajo. Trabajó en una campaña contra el cáncer con su participación en el disco Mujer. Después, colaboró en la grabación del disco Duetos 2, del artista mexicano Armando Manzanero. Dos años después, fue publicado su álbum Frágil, fue una propuesta pop más genuina y logró encontrar su estilo e identidad musical. De esta gira logró grandes aprendizajes. Fue en ese momento cuando se consolidó como solista, y con el cual logra además numerosas nominaciones y premios como el Grammy Latino, Premios Shangay (España) y los Premios Oye (México).

Ana Torroja participó con Gigi D’Alessio, en la grabación de la canción Un nuevo beso. Además, la española estuvo en la banda sonora del film francés llamado Livraison à domicile. Para el año 2004 realizó una pausa musical y se dedicó más bien a adelantar colaboraciones musicales con artistas como Aleks Syntek, con quien interpretó el tema a dúo: Duele el amor, uno de sus mayores éxitos a nivel comercial. Otras destacables colaboraciones de Ana se dieron en el disco Me olvidé de vivir, las ganancias estaban destinadas para el Proyecto Alzheimer de la Fundación Reina Sofía, donde cantó a dúo con Txetxo Bengoetxea y grabó Solo pienso en ti de Víctor Manuel para el programa de TVE Nuestra mejor canción.

A finales de 2004 lanzó en Latinoamérica un disco con sus mejores éxitos (Esencial). A principios de 2005 dicho disco se publicó en España, incluyendo una canción inédita llamada «No me canso», de Carlos Chaouen. En el año 2005, colaboró, con Enfants de la lune.
