Biography
He was born in Guayaquil on December 15, 1951. He belongs to a family of artists; his mother, Fresia Saavedra Gómez, is a renowned artist and singer of Ecuadorian music; like his father Washington Murillo, he was a musician; who imitated it in the interest for musical interpretation.
While still a child, she already made her first recording of children’s melodies, such as: “El Ratoncito Miguel”; and the “March of the letters”.
When Doña Fresia Saavedra was already a star of Ecuadorian music, she took her daughter Hilda as a companion to the recording studios, where the girl became familiar with the artistic and musical environment and became interested in recording another song, entitled “La song of Sundays “which was recorded by the ONIX label, whose wish was a great success and constitutes the beginning of a luminous career, where the Little Princess of the Song, as she was baptized by the popular radio man Mr. Rafael Fout in the United States, a country from which Hilda Murillo has traveled frequently to fulfill artistic commitments and make recordings with various record companies that were interested in her musical production.
She was married to the late artistic promoter Pío Cupelo, who together with his wife Hilda Murillo and Mrs. Fresia Saavedra, organized artistic programs and presentations of national artists on national and international stages.
Hilda Murillo, on her own and also with her mother Fresia Saavedra, have made record productions and have recorded numerous songs that have become popular among the Ecuadorian public, in addition to Spain, Italy and the United States with the Ecuadorian community of residents in those countries.
Hilda Murillo Saavedra, has represented Ecuador at the OTI Festival (1974) in Mexico. In his youth he studied medicine, but he left when he was in his third year to dedicate himself to musical activity.
musical chest17 In relation to her artistic career, she refers: “My mother taught me to love our music, but I lean more towards ballads; but I am also a daring woman who adapts to all musical styles; a sample is the inclusion of “partío heart” (Alejandro Sanz) in a newly released CD and also “Que Somebody tell me” (Gilberto Santa Rosa), the title of the Album is titled “Thanks to life”.
With her very own style, she has interpreted numerous songs in various genres with her melodious voice: romantic, bolero, ranchera, waltz and also national music themes. A theme that became popular in the artistic environment has been “Words, Words” (1970) She expresses:
“In my shows, I try to share new songs with the public, but they always ask me for the same songs.”
The artist remains in permanent artistic and musical activity, be it in her TV show, on stages with massive public attendance and in other exclusive ones, such as in the “Posada de las Garzas” (Circunvalación Norte 536; Urdesa in Guayaquil).
