Es una cantante de pop, actriz y modelo ocasional australiana. Sophie Monk nació en Inglaterra pero sus padres, posteriormente se trasladaron a Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Ella fue una vez un miembro del grupo femenino Bardot, después de participar en el programa de televisión Popstars, y desde entonces ha creado una carrera en solitario con el lanzamiento de un álbum Calendar Girl en 2003. Más recientemente, ha pasado a actuar y aparece en películas como Date Movie (2006), Click (2006), Sex and Death 101 (2007) y Colinas Sangrientas (2009).

She is an Australian pop singer, actress and occasional model. Sophie Monk was born December 14, 1979 in England but her parents later moved to the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. She was once a member of the girl group Bardot, after participating in the television show Popstars, and has since created a solo career with the release of a Calendar Girl album in 2003.

 

More recently, she has moved on to acting and appears in films such as Date Movie (2006), Click (2006), Sex and Death 101 (2007) and Bloody Hills (2009). She was trained in classical opera as a child.

 

Sophie Monk’s music career began in 1999 when she responded to an advertisement requesting girls with experience in singing and dancing. The ad was published for the Australian reality series Popstars, a program that aimed to create a new girl group. After many sessions of song and dance, Monk was selected as a member of the group, named Bardot.

 

Bardot became the first Australian artist to debut at No. 1 with the single “Poison”, and her first self-titled album. The following singles “I Should’ve Never Let You Go” and “These Days” followed and the group embarked in August 2000 on their first tour. In July 2001, the group released the single “ASAP” from their second album Play It Like That, released in November 2001, and the second single “I Need Somebody” was their biggest hit since “Poison”. In 2002, the group released their latest single “Love Will Find A Way” and embarked on their second national tour. In May, the group disbanded.
