Conocida como Carole King, es una cantante, pianista y compositora estadounidense. Su época de mayor actividad como compositora fue en los años 60, y como cantante fue durante la década de los ’70, si bien tanto antes como después ha tenido considerable aceptación como compositora.

 

King ha ganado cuatro premios Grammy y ha sido incluida en el Salón de la Fama del Rock and Roll (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) y en el Salón de la Fama de los Compositores (Songwriters Hall of Fame) por su trabajo, junto con su compañero Gerry Goffin.

Known as Carole King, is an American singer, pianist and songwriter. Her time of greatest activity as a songwriter was in the 60s, and as a singer it was during the ’70s, although both before and after she has had considerable acceptance as a songwriter.

 

King has won four Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame for his work, along with his partner Gerry Goffin.

 

With Goffin, King wrote more than two dozen hits for numerous artists during the 1960s, many of which have become standards.

 

As a singer, he has made 25 solo albums, with his album Tapestry being the most successful of his career, topping the US album chart for 15 weeks in 1971, and staying on the charts for more than six years. In addition, Tapestry held the record for the longest solo album performed by a female soloist, surpassed only by Whitney Houston with The Bodyguard and Adele and her album 21.

 

She was very successful as a performer in the first half of the 1970s, despite the fact that she was a successful songwriter long before and has continued to be successful. She had her first number 1 on the Billboard charts as a songwriter in 1961 at age 19, with “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” performed by “The Shirelles” which she wrote with Gerry Goffin.
