Es un cantautor francés de origen libanés y egipcio . Louis Chedid es hijo de la escritora Andrée Chedid y padre de Matthieu Chedid (más conocido como -M-).
De niño dio sus primeros pasos en el mundo del canto como miembro de la “Manécanterie des Petits Chanteurs à la Croix de Bois”, un famoso coro de niños católicos franceses.
Chedid era fanático del guitarrista de jazz Django Reinhardt y decidió emprender una carrera en el mundo de la música tan pronto como dejara la escuela. Después de que su primer álbum “Balbutiements” (Mumblings – 1973) atrajera poca atención, su talento fue reconocido por primera vez después del lanzamiento de títulos como “La Belle” y “T’as beau pas être beau” lanzados en 1977.
En 1981, “Ainsi soit-il” (Amén) subió a la cima de las listas, seguida cuatro años más tarde por “Anne ma soeur Anne” (Mi hermana Anne), que criticaba la creciente popularidad de la extrema derecha en Francia. Su primera novela autobiográfica, 40 Berges Blues, se publicó en 1992.

Biography
Is a French singer-songwriter of Lebanese and Egyptian origin. Louis Chedid is the son of the writer Andrée Chedid and the father of Matthieu Chedid (better known as -M-).
As a child he took his first steps in the world of singing as a member of the “Manécanterie des Petits Chanteurs à la Croix de Bois”, a famous French Catholic boys’ choir.
Chedid was a fan of jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and decided to pursue a career in music as soon as he left school. After her first album “Balbutiements” (Mumblings – 1973) attracted little attention, her talent was first recognized after the release of titles like “La Belle” and “T’as beau pas être beau” released in 1977.
In 1981, “Ainsi soit-il” (Amen) rose to the top of the charts, followed four years later by “Anne ma sœur Anne” (My Sister Anne), which criticized the growing popularity of the extreme right in France. His first autobiographical novel, 40 Berges Blues, was published in 1992.
Chedid is also the composer of “Le Soldat Rose” by Pierre-Dominique Burgaud (The Pink Soldier, 2006), a fairy tale musical whose songs have been performed by singers such as -M- , Vanessa Paradis , Jeanne Cherhal, Francis Cabrel Alain Souchon and Benabar.
