Christopher Hamill (Pemberton, Wigan, Lancashire; 19 de diciembre de 1958), conocido como Limahl (un anagrama de Hamill), es un cantante de pop inglés. Fue el vocalista del grupo pop Kajagoogoo a partir de 1981, antes de embarcarse en una carrera en solitario, obteniendo el éxito musical de 1984 titulado «The Never Ending Story», tema principal de la película del mismo nombre. En un principio se decantó por la carrera de actor, interviniendo en varias representaciones teatrales, aunque pronto encontró su verdadera vocación en la música.
Con el seudónimo de Limahl (una alteración con las letras de su apellido), en 1982 se presentó a una audición para ser el vocalista del grupo “Kajagoogoo”. Finalmente fue seleccionado y conformó la banda junto a Steve Askew (guitarra), Nick Beggs (bajo/coros) y Stuart Crawford (sintetizador/coros). Ese mismo año grabaron su primer disco “White Feathers”, bajo la batuta Nick Rhodes, componente del grupo “Duran Duran”.
Al año siguiente se dieron a conocer con el single “Too Shy”, un tema techno muy en la línea de las tendencias musicales del momento que se convirtió en número 1 en Gran Bretaña, permaneciendo también 5 semanas en el Top 5 norteamericano. Posteriormente se extrajeron otros singles del mismo álbum que tuvieron un éxito más discreto como “Ooh to Be Ah” y “Hang on Now”.
En 1984 Limahl abandonó el grupo para iniciar su carrera en solitario, siendo sustituido por Nick Beggs como vocalista.
El artista compuso junto a Giorgio Moroder el tema “The Neverending Story”, una estupenda canción perteneciente a la banda sonora de la exitosa película “La historia interminable” (1984), que entró en el Top 5 de Gran Bretaña.
Dos años más tarde volvió a colaborar con Moroder, que produjo su álbum ” Colour All My Days”, un trabajo que pasó totalmente desapercibido.
Pasaron varios años hasta que en 1992 volvió a grabar un nuevo disco, “Love is Blind”, que tuvo cierta aceptación en Alemania y Japón, mientras que en 1998 se lanzó al mercado su “Greatest Hits”.
Con la llegada de la nueva década y animado por la nostalgia hacia las bandas de los años 80, comenzó una gira por Gran Bretaña en el invierno de 2000. En 2004, se unió al resto de ex-componentes de “Kajagoogoo” para dar un único concierto perteneciente al programa “Bands Reunited” del canal musical VH1.

Christopher Hamill (Pemberton, Wigan, Lancashire, December 19, 1958), known as Limahl (an anagram of Hamill), is an English pop singer. He was the lead singer of the pop group Kajagoogoo beginning in 1981, before embarking on a solo career, scoring the 1984 musical hit “The Never Ending Story,” the theme song for the film of the same name. At first he opted for an acting career, taking part in several theatrical performances, although he soon found his true vocation in music.
Using the pseudonym Limahl (an alteration with the letters of his last name), in 1982 he auditioned to be the lead singer of the group “Kajagoogoo”. He was eventually selected and formed the band alongside Steve Askew (guitar), Nick Beggs (bass/backing vocals) and Stuart Crawford (synth/backing vocals). That same year they recorded their first album “White Feathers”, under the baton of Nick Rhodes, a member of the group “Duran Duran”.
The following year they made themselves known with the single “Too Shy”, a techno song very much in line with the musical trends of the moment that became number 1 in Great Britain, also spending 5 weeks in the Top 5 North American. Subsequently, other singles from the same album were extracted that had a more discreet success such as “Ooh to Be Ah” and “Hang on Now”.
In 1984 Limahl left the group to start his solo career, being replaced by Nick Beggs as vocalist.
Together with Giorgio Moroder, the artist composed the song “The Neverending Story”, a wonderful song belonging to the soundtrack of the successful film “The Neverending Story” (1984), which entered the Top 5 in Great Britain.
Two years later he collaborated again with Moroder, who produced his album “Color All My Days”, a work that went completely unnoticed.
Several years passed until in 1992 he recorded a new album, “Love is Blind”, which had some acceptance in Germany and Japan, while in 1998 his “Greatest Hits” was released.
With the arrival of the new decade and fueled by nostalgia for the bands of the 80s, he began a tour of Great Britain in the winter of 2000. In 2004, he joined the rest of the ex-members of “Kajagoogoo” to give a only concert belonging to the “Bands Reunited” program of the music channel VH1.
