Biography:
He is an American actor, musician, director and music producer, founder of the alternative rock band 30 Seconds to Mars. Winner of the Oscar, Golden Globe and SAG awards, he has directed productions under the name of Bartholomew Cubbins.
He lived in his hometown until his parents divorced when he was little, leaving custody to his mother Constance. After the separation, he lived with his older brother, Shannon Leto, his mother, and his grandfather. He and his family moved to different places like Colorado, Virginia, Wyoming, and Haiti for work.
He released his debut album in 2002, which was titled with the same name as the band. The album received generally positive reviews. From that moment the band was growing in popularity and recognition throughout the world. The popularity of the band and the sales of their second album gave Leto the opportunity to participate in the 6th Annual Hollywood Life Awards in December 2006.
Among his main hits is the song “The Kill”, which is found on his second studio album, A Beautiful Lie; and “Kings and Queens”, belonging to his third album, This Is War. At the beginning of 2013 he finished the recording of his fourth studio album with 30 Seconds to Mars, Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams, from which the single “Up In the Air” is released, which was launched into space from NASA.
His first leading role was in Prefontaine (1997), which recreates the biography of running back Steve Prefontaine. For the role, Leto investigated the life of the athlete, his family and friends, adapting his voice and even his physical form. The transformation was so complete that, seeing it, the runner’s sister was moved to tears. His performance got very good reviews.
