Fue un productor y director de cine y televisión estadounidense. Koch nació en la ciudad de Nueva York , hijo de Beatrice (Winchel) y William Jacob Koch. Su familia era judía . Asistió a la escuela secundaria DeWitt Clinton y la escuela Peddie en Hightstown, Nueva Jersey . Comenzó su carrera cinematográfica como empleado en la oficina de Universal Studios en Nueva York y luego hizo su debut cinematográfico en Hollywood en 1947 como asistente de dirección. He was an American film and television producer and director. Koch was born in New York City, the son of Beatrice (Winchel) and William Jacob Koch. His family was Jewish. He attended DeWitt Clinton High School and Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey. He began his film career as a clerk in the Universal Studios New York office and then made his Hollywood film debut in 1947 as an assistant director. He first worked as a producer in 1953 and a year later made his directorial debut. In 1964, Paramount Pictures appointed him head of film production, a position he held until 1966, when he left to start his own production company. He had a production pact with Paramount for over 15 years. Among his numerous television productions, Howard W. Koch produced the Academy Awards show eight times. Dedicated to industry, he served as president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 1977 to 1979. In 1990, the Academy honored him with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and in 1991 he received the Frank Capra Award of Achievement from the Directors Guild of America. Along with actor Telly Savalas, Howard Koch owned Telly’s Pop, winner of several major California youth races, including the Norfolk Stakes and the Del Mar Futurity.
