RALPH WAITE, fue un actor estadounidense cuyo papel más conocido fue el de John Walton, Sr. en la serie de televisión Los Walton.
Waite, el mayor de cinco hermanos, nació en White Plains (Nueva York, EE. UU.), hijo de Ralph H. Waite, un ingeniero de la construcción, y Esther (Mitchell) Waite. Demasiado joven para luchar en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, Waite sirvió en el Cuerpo de Marines de los Estados Unidos entre 1946 y 1948.
Posteriormente se graduó en la Universidad Brucknell en Lewisburg (Pensilvania) y trabajó durante un breve período como trabajador social. RALPH WAITE, was an American actor whose best known role was that of John Walton, Sr. on the television series The Waltons.
Waite, the oldest of five siblings, was born in White Plains, New York, USA, the son of Ralph H. Waite, a construction engineer, and Esther (Mitchell) Waite. Too young to fight in World War II, Waite served in the United States Marine Corps between 1946 and 1948.
He later graduated from Brucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and worked for a brief period as a social worker. He went on to earn a master’s degree from Yale University’s Divinity School and was ordained as a Presbyterian minister, working as a religious editor at Harper & Row in New York before settling on an acting career.
Ralph Waite passed away on February 13, 2014 at the age of 85. Chapter 24 of the eleventh season of NCIS deals with the death of the character played by him. «In memory of Ralph Waite, a talented actor and our friend».
