En 1917, Seymour apareció en Mystery of the Double Cross de Pathé junto a la actriz Mollie King. Hal Roach vio su actuación y le ofreció un contrato cinematográfico con su Rolin Film Company. Seymour aceptó y se mudó a Los Ángeles para actuar como la protagonista de las series de comedia cinematográfica Toto the Clown (interpretado por Armando Novello). A lo largo de 1918, apareció en la serie Toto y también tuvo un papel secundario en la comedia corta Just Rambling Along (1918), junto a Stan Laurel.

In 1917, Seymour appeared in Pathé’s Mystery of the Double Cross alongside actress Mollie King. Hal Roach saw her performance and offered her a film deal with his Rolin Film Company. Seymour agreed and moved to Los Angeles to act as the lead in the motion picture comedy series Toto the Clown (played by Armando Novello). Throughout 1918, he appeared on the series Toto and also had a supporting role in the short comedy Just Rambling Along (1918), alongside Stan Laurel.
Griffith cast Seymour with Harron, Richard Barthelmess, and Carol Dempster in the drama The Girl Who Stayed at Home (1919). Although the film was not well received by critics, Seymour’s performance was and public interest in it began to grow. Later that year, she was paired with Robert Harron again in True Heart Susie (1919) which also featured Lillian Gish. Seymour followed up with a role in Scarlet Days (1919), also alongside Richard Barthelmess and Carol Dempster. In 1920, Griffith cast Seymour for the lead role in The Idol Dancer. The film was not well received by audiences, but Seymour’s performance wowed them. Shortly after the film’s release, Seymour appeared on the cover of Motion Picture Magazine.
In the early 1920s, Griffith again chose Seymour, this time at Way Down East. Midway through filming, on April 21, Seymour fell ill due to «intestinal strangulation.» She was taken to Mercy Hospital in New York City for treatment, but her condition did not improve. She underwent emergency surgery, but died after developing pneumonia on April 25, 1920. Seymour is buried in Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, New York.
