The third film in The Strangers franchise will be released next month, but it is not a sequel. The Strangers: Chapter 1 is a prequel to the 2008 film that will kick off a new trilogy of standalone movies. If you’re a fan of the franchise and excited to see what’s next, here is everything you need to know.
The Strangers: Chapter 1 Plot
The story will be familiar to anyone who has watched the first film, in which a couple (Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman) spends the night in a remote house only to be targeted by three psychopaths. The most iconic scene comes when, after a night of torment, one of the killers tells the couple that this happened to them simply because “you were home.”
Similarly, Chapter 1 follows a couple forced to spend the night at a remote rental home after their car breaks down in a small Oregon town. Their night is flipped upside down when three individuals in masks arrive, intent on terrorizing the couple.
