Better known as Kurt Cobain, he was an American singer, musician and songwriter, known for having been the singer, guitarist and main songwriter of the grunge band Nirvana. Cobain is considered as an icon and voice of Generation X, he has also been considered one of the most iconic and influential rock musicians in the history of music.<\/div>\n

Cobain formed Nirvana with Krist Novoselic in his hometown in 1985 and established it as part of the Seattle music scene, with his album Bleach released by the independent record label Sub Pop in 1989.<\/div>\n

After signing with DGC Records, the band he achieved success with “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, the first single from his second album Nevermind (1991). Following the success of Nevermind, Nirvana was labeled “the main band” of Generation X, and Cobain was hailed as “the mouthpiece of a generation.” Cobain, however, was often uncomfortable and frustrated, believing that his message and artistic vision had been misinterpreted by the public, and his personal problems were often the subject of media attention. He challenged the Nirvana audience with his final studio album, In Utero (1993). The album did not match Nevermind’s sales figures but was still a critical and commercial success.<\/div>\n
