Fue el l\u00edder y vocalista entre 1975 y 1986 de la banda The Boomtown Rats, con la que consigui\u00f3 un par de n\u00fameros uno en ventas brit\u00e1nicos con los sencillos \u00abRat Trap\u00bb (1978) y \u00abI Don’t Like Mondays\u00bb (1979), siendo esta \u00faltima canci\u00f3n la que lo lanz\u00f3 a la fama internacional.<\/div>\n

En 1982 particip\u00f3 en la pel\u00edcula The Wall de la banda inglesa de rock psicod\u00e9lico y rock progresivo Pink Floyd, interpretando el papel de Pink, el personaje principal de la pel\u00edcula, una importante estrella de rock con conflictos existenciales.<\/div>\n
