Fue fundador de la orden religiosa de la Iglesia Cat\u00f3lica Romana, Compa\u00f1\u00eda de Jes\u00fas, y el primer general de la orden (t\u00edtulo oficial del l\u00edder de la congregaci\u00f3n cat\u00f3lica de la Compa\u00f1\u00eda de Jes\u00fas com\u00fanmente conocida como los jesuitas. Se suele referir a \u00e9l como Padre General).
