Foly naci\u00f3 el 16 de diciembre de 1962 en el distrito 7 de Lyon . Sus padres, una familia de comerciantes de la Argelia francesa , regresaron a Francia en 1962 con la comunidad Pied-Noir y se trasladaron a Lyon, cerca del barrio de Perrache , donde eran propietarios de La droguerie du sourire . Foly was born on December 16, 1962 in the 7th district of Lyon. His parents, a merchant family from French Algeria, returned to France in 1962 with the Pied-Noir community and moved to Lyon, near the Perrache district, where they owned La droguerie du sourire. When she was five years old she practiced dancing. At age 12, he sang with his parents’ Black and White orchestra with his brother Philippe on drums and her sister Corinne on piano.<\/div>\n

Later he continued to sing in local nightclubs and bars, developing an affinity for blues and jazz. He studied languages for his high school and is bilingual in French and English.<\/div>\n

In 1984, Foly was discovered by Philippe Viennet and Andr\u00e9 Manoukian, who offered to write for her and record a demo of her. After a lot of work, she arrived in Paris in 1987 and got a meeting with Fabrice Nataf, artistic director and patron of Virgin France, who launched her career. She took the name Liane Foly in 1986, Foly in tribute to Dal\u00ed, who at the time said in an advertisement that he was crazy about chocolate. In 1988 she published her first album, The Man I Love, promoted by the single Ca va, \u00e7a vient. It was a commercial success, reaching the top 50. The same year she performed on the Paris stage (La Cigale). The album was composed by Andr\u00e9 Manoukian, with lyrics written by Foly and Philippe Viennet. Her 1997 album, Cam\u00e9l\u00e9on, was Foly’s first without Andr\u00e9 Manoukian. Produced by Philippe Viennet, it was largely ignored by the French public. She was more involved in the composition of her 2000 album, Entre nous.<\/div>\n
