Su padre fue Santiago Manzanero, m\u00fasico y uno de los fundadores de la orquesta t\u00edpica Yucalpet\u00e9n, Su madre se llamaba Juana Canch\u00e9. Armando inici\u00f3 a los ocho a\u00f1os estudios de m\u00fasica en la escuela de Bellas Artes de su ciudad natal, completando su formaci\u00f3n musical en la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico. En 1950 compone su primera melod\u00eda titulada \u00abNunca en el mundo\u00bb, al a\u00f1o siguiente inicia su actividad profesional como pianista y seis a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde comienza a trabajar como director musical de la casa filial mexicana de la compa\u00f1\u00eda discogr\u00e1fica CBS Internacional En 1962 obtiene el quinto lugar en el Festival de la Canci\u00f3n en M\u00e9xico. En 1965 gana el primer lugar del Festival de la Canci\u00f3n en Miami con el tema \u00abCuando estoy contigo\u00bb. En 1966 Carlos Lico pone en primeras posiciones de radio su canci\u00f3n \u00abNo\u00bb; En 1967, animado por un ejecutivo de la filial mexicana del sello RCA V\u00edctor, graba su primer disco, titulado Mi primera grabaci\u00f3n, con canciones propias, donde destaca el romanticismo que lo caracterizar\u00e1 m\u00e1s adelante. En 1970, el cantautor estadounidense Sid Wayne, quien compon\u00eda canciones para Elvis Presley, version\u00f3 su canci\u00f3n \u00abSomos novios\u00bb en idioma ingl\u00e9s, titul\u00e1ndola \u00abIt\u2019s impossible\u00bb. En 1978 obtiene el primer lugar del Festival de Mallorca en Espa\u00f1a con el tema \u00abSe\u00f1or amor\u00bb.<\/p>\n

En 1982, la canci\u00f3n \u00abCoraz\u00f3n amigo\u00bb se lleva los honores en el Festival Yamaha. En su incursi\u00f3n como productor, se destaca la realizada en el \u00e1lbum Romance de Luis Miguel, editado en 1991, en el que incluyen canciones de su autor\u00eda como \u00abTe extra\u00f1o\u00bb y \u00abNo s\u00e9 t\u00fa\u00bb.1\u200b En 1993 la revista Billboard le otorg\u00f3 el Premio a la Excelencia por su trayectoria art\u00edstica. En el 2001 gan\u00f3 el Latin Grammy al mejor d\u00fao o grupo pop vocal por Duetos, en que canta con artistas como Olga Ta\u00f1\u00f3n, Alejandro Sanz, Ricardo Montaner, Lucero y Miguel Bos\u00e9. Nueve a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, recibi\u00f3 el Premio a la Excelencia Musical de la Academia Latina de la Grabaci\u00f3n, que entrega los Latin Grammy.<\/p>\n

His father was Santiago Manzanero, a musician and one of the founders of the Yucalpet\u00e9n typical orchestra. His mother was called Juana Canch\u00e9. Armando began music studies at the School of Fine Arts in his hometown at the age of eight, completing his musical training in Mexico City. In 1950 he composed his first melody entitled ” Nunca en el mundo “, the following year he began his professional activity as a pianist and six years later he began working as musical director of the Mexican subsidiary of the CBS International record company In 1962 he obtained the fifth place in the Festival of the Song in Mexico. In 1965 he won first place at the Miami Song Festival with the song “When I’m With You”. In 1966 Carlos Lico placed his song “No” on the top of the radio; In 1967, encouraged by an executive of the Mexican subsidiary of the RCA V\u00edctor label, he recorded his first album, entitled My first recording, with his own songs, where the romanticism that would characterize him later stands out. In 1970, American singer-songwriter Sid Wayne, who composed songs for Elvis Presley, covered his song “Somos Novios” in English, calling it “It’s Impossible”. In 1978 he won first place at the Mallorca Festival in Spain with the song “Se\u00f1or amor”.<\/p>\n
