Tras unas pocas grabaciones para diversas compa\u00f1\u00edas, firm\u00f3 con Decca para un disco de est\u00e1ndares titulado Blue and Sentimental (1957).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s su carrera vivi\u00f3 un momento crucial cuando el productor George Martin le pidi\u00f3 que prestase su voz para un disco de Peter Sellers, Songs for Swingin&#8217; Sellers, en el que se satirizaban diversos temas de Sinatra. After a few recordings for various companies, he signed with Decca for a standards album entitled Blue and Sentimental (1957).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A year later his career reached a pivotal moment when producer George Martin asked him to lend his voice for a Peter Sellers album, Songs for Swingin &#8216;Sellers, in which various Sinatra songs were satirized. Monro&#8217;s contribution, &#8220;You Keep Me Swingin &#8216;&#8221;, landed him a contract for Parlophone, and he reached number three on the UK charts with his 1960 song &#8220;Portrait of My Love.&#8221; Other successful songs were &#8220;My Kind of Girl&#8221; (which would be his first hit in the United States) and &#8220;Softly, As I Leave You&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1962 he published an album for Parlophone, Matt Monro Sings Hoagy Carmichael, with great repercussion, although it would be his interpretation of the theme for the James Bond film that would make him known around the world.
