Nacido en Seattle, Washington, en una diversa familia afroestadounidense que contaba adem\u00e1s con ra\u00edces cheroquis, comenz\u00f3 a tocar la guitarra a los 15 a\u00f1os. Born in Seattle, Washington, to a diverse African-American family that also had Cherokee roots, he began playing guitar at age 15. In 1961, he enlisted in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division and graduated the following year.<\/div>\n

Shortly thereafter, he moved to Clarksville, Tennessee, and began playing a few gigs known as the Chitlin ‘Circuit, where he landed a niche playing as a backing musician for The Isley Brothers and later for Little Richard, with whom he continued until mid-1965. He later went on to play with Curtis Knight and The Squires before moving to England in late 1966 thanks to Linda Keith, who also caught the attention of The Animals bassist Chas Chandler to become his manager.<\/div>\n

Within months, Hendrix had already scored three UK Top 10 singles with his band The Jimi Hendrix Experience: “Hey Joe,” “Purple Haze,” and “The Wind Cries Mary.” He rose to fame in the United States after his performance at the Monterrey Pop Festival in 1967. The following year, in 1968, his third studio album Electric Ladyland, reached the top of the US chart; it was his biggest and only number one commercial success in that country. At the time he was the highest paid artist for his concert at the Woodstock Festival (1969) and the Isle of Wight Festival (1970), before his death from ingestion of barbiturates on September 18, 1970 at the age of 27. age.<\/div>\n

Hendrix’s musical influences were inspired by American rock and roll and electric blues. He is known for using amps with distortion, high volume and gain, and he was an innovator in taking advantage of the feedback generated by the guitar.
