En 1978, despu\u00e9s de ganar una audici\u00f3n para ser integrante de un grupo juvenil, comienza su carrera en el grupo Los Chicos. El grupo estaba formado por 4 integrantes, Tony, Rey, Miguel y Chayanne. Los Chicos tuvieron gran popularidad en Centroam\u00e9rica, M\u00e9xico, algunos pa\u00edses de Sudam\u00e9rica y en Puerto Rico. Realizaron varias giras, adem\u00e1s grabaron 5 discos, y la pel\u00edcula Conexi\u00f3n Caribe en 1983.<\/div>\n

Despu\u00e9s de algunos problemas dentro del grupo, se anunci\u00f3 la salida de dos de sus integrantes, incluido Chayanne. Se seleccionaron nuevos integrantes para sustituir a los que hab\u00edan dejado el grupo<\/div>\n

En la d\u00e9cada de 1980, Chayanne particip\u00f3 en varias telenovelas y protagoniz\u00f3 la serie c\u00f3mica Generaciones, con Luis Antonio Rivera.<\/div>\n

En 1986, form\u00f3 parte del elenco de la telenovela Pobre juventud, con Lola Cort\u00e9z, siendo as\u00ed el primer trabajo que realiza en M\u00e9xico como actor. Al a\u00f1o siguiente regres\u00f3 a Puerto Rico para actuar en la telenovela Tormento con quien comparti\u00f3 protagonismo junto con el cantante y actor colombiano Carlos Vives y bajo la direcci\u00f3n del venezolano Rom\u00e1n Chalbaud en 1987.<\/div>\n

In 1978, after winning an audition to be a member of a youth group, he began his career in the group Los Chicos. The group consisted of 4 members, Tony, Rey, Miguel and Chayanne. Los Chicos had great popularity in Central America, Mexico, some South American countries and in Puerto Rico.
