Leopoldo S\u00e1nchez Labastida uno de los dos cantantes originales de los Apson, adem\u00e1s de solista. Naci\u00f3 el 2 de abril de 1945 en Sinaloa. Aunque algunos piensan que era originario de Sinaloa y que naci\u00f3 el 2 de abril de 1945, otras fuentes se\u00f1alan que en realidad naci\u00f3 en la ciudad de M\u00e9xico el 30 de enero de 1946. Pero es precisamente en Culiac\u00e1n en donde alguien les sugiri\u00f3 actuar en un local llamado “La Fogata”, ah\u00ed se presentaba tambi\u00e9n otro grupo. Leopoldo Sanchez Labastida era el hijo del due\u00f1o del Bar. En vista de que el cantante de ese grupo s\u00f3lo quer\u00eda tocar el requinto, la puerta se abri\u00f3 para recibir a \u201cPolo\u201d.<\/div>\n

Pero los recursos de \u201cLos Apson\u201d eran exiguos, por lo que los familiares los alcanzaron ah\u00ed para ayudarles, pagaron sus deudas y los apoyaron en su odisea hacia la Capital. Su ruta continu\u00f3 por Mazatl\u00e1n en donde permanecieron solo algunos d\u00edas. En aquellos a\u00f1os. Polo a\u00fan no cumpl\u00eda la mayor\u00eda de edad, por lo que solicitaron al padre de \u00e9ste el permitirle acompa\u00f1arles.<\/div>\n

En 1964, cuando \u201dLos Apson\u201d estaban en su mejor momento, Polo se separa de la agrupaci\u00f3n, bajo fuertes rumores por diferencias con Frankie, otro de los l\u00edderes y cantantes del conjunto, para seguir su carrera con otra agrupaci\u00f3n llamada \u201cLos Polaris\u201d, que pas\u00f3 sin pena ni gloria. Sin embargo, Polo se lanz\u00f3 como solista logrando colocar varios \u00e9xitos radiof\u00f3nicos entre los que destaca \u201cEl \u00faltimo beso\u201d, en agosto de 1966. Curiosamente este tema lo graba junto con Los Apson, por petici\u00f3n del cantante.<\/div>\n

En 1965, es invitado a formar parte del elenco del programa televisivo \u201cMu\u00e9vanse Todos\u201d, que conduc\u00eda Vianey Valdez en el canal 6 de Monterrey, Nuevo Le\u00f3n y junto con Jorge Bar\u00f3n (ex cantante de \u201dLos Zipps\u201d) y Juan El Matem\u00e1tico Garza, fueron los pilares de dicho programa hasta su terminaci\u00f3n. Entre 1966 y 1968 grab\u00f3 seis discos de larga duraci\u00f3n en su faceta como solista y uno a dueto con Vianey Valdez. A Polo se le recuerda por su gran \u00e9xito \u201cEl \u00faltimo beso\u201d; sin embargo, su discograf\u00eda como solista fue muy extensa con n\u00fameros como: \u201cDos llantos\u201d, \u201cEl Dr. del amor\u201d, \u201cAnna\u201d, \u201cEl duelo\u201d, \u201cHilda\u201d, \u201cEl Chisme\u201d, \u201cElla no est\u00e1 ah\u00ed\u201d, \u201cDespu\u00e9s del \u00faltimo beso\u201d, \u201cParches\u201d, y otras m\u00e1s. El cantante falleci\u00f3 tr\u00e1gicamente al ahogarse en una piscina de un hotel donde se hospedaba en julio de 1974 en M\u00e9rida, a la edad de 29 a\u00f1os, durante una gira al lado de Los Rebeldes del Rock por Yucat\u00e1n. \u00c9l fue: Polo.<\/div>\n

Leopoldo S\u00e1nchez Labastida one of the two original singers of the Apson, as well as a soloist. He was born on April 2, 1945 in Sinaloa. Although some think that he was originally from Sinaloa and that he was born on April 2, 1945, other sources point out that he was actually born in Mexico City on January 30, 1946.
