WAYNE MORRIS (NACIDO COMO BERT DEWAYNE MORRIS, 17 de febrero de 1914 – 14 de septiembre de 1959) fue un actor de cine y televisión estadounidense, así como un as de combate condecorado de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Apareció en muchas películas, incluidas Paths of Glory (1957), The Bushwackers (1952) y el papel principal de Kid Galahad (1937).

Biografía y carrera
Morris nació en Los Ángeles. Asistió a Los Angeles City College y fue fullback en el equipo de fútbol universitario de esa escuela. Obtuvo experiencia como actor a través de su trabajo en Pasadena Playhouse.

Biography and career
Morris was born in Los Angeles. He attended Los Angeles City College and was a fullback on that school’s college football team. He gained acting experience through his work at the Pasadena Playhouse.

Morris’s film debut came in China Clipper (1936).

Morris played the main character in Kid Galahad (1937), a story about a young boxer that featured some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Bette Davis, Edward G. Robinson, and Humphrey Bogart. His career flourished in films such as Brother Rat, starring Ronald Reagan, and in Bogart’s only horror film, The Return of Doctor X (1939).

While filming Flight Angels (1940), Morris became interested in flying and became a pilot. With war in the wind, he joined the Naval Reserve and became a Navy pilot in 1942, leaving his film career behind while the war lasted. He flew the F6F Hellcat from the aircraft carrier USS Essex.

Later career
After the war, Morris returned to the movies, but his absence of nearly four years had cost him his burgeoning stardom. He continued to act in films, but the images, for the most part, lost quality. Losing his boyish looks but no bearing, Morris spent most of the fifties in low-budget westerns, but also appeared as a weak man Lieutenant Roget, one of the main characters, in Stanley Kubrick’s Paths of Glory ( 1957).
In 1957, Morris made his Broadway debut as Kogia boxing champion for William Saroyan’s The Cave Dwellers.
On television, Morris starred in a 1956 episode of Science Fiction Theater, «Beam of Fire.» In 1958, Morris appeared in Gunsmoke as «Ned,» a boyfriend nearly shot to death. Death
Morris, 45, died of a coronary occlusion on September 14, 1959 aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard.
