THERESE ANN RUTHERFORD, más conocida como THERESE RUTHERFORD (2 de noviembre de 1917-11 de junio de 2012) fue una actriz canadiense-estadounidense en cine, radio y televisión.

Rutherford nació el 2 de noviembre de 1917 en Vancouver, Columbia Británica de John Rutherford y Lucille (de soltera Mansfield; 1890-1981) Rutherford. La madre de Rutherford era una actriz de cine mudo y su padre era un ex tenor de ópera.

 

 

En 1935, Rutherford comenzó su carrera cinematográfica en Hollywood en el papel protagónico de Joan O’Brien en la película dramática Waterfront Lady para Mascot Pictures , que más tarde sería Republic Pictures . Rutherford pronto se estableció como una popular protagonista de películas occidentales en Republic, coprotagonizada por los actores Gene Autry y John Wayne.

 

 

En 1937, Rutherford dejó Republic y firmó un contrato cinematográfico con los estudios Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer . En MGM, Rutherford apareció como el Espíritu de la Navidad pasada en Un cuento de Navidad (1938) y Lydia Bennet en Orgullo y prejuicio (1940), entre otros papeles.

 

 

Entre sus apariciones en televisión, Rutherford coprotagonizó «Suppressed Desires» en The Nash Airflyte Theatre (23 de noviembre de 1950). Apareció como invitada en cuatro episodios de Perry Mason . Su primera aparición fue en el episodio de 1959 «El caso del perro aullador», cuando interpretó a la acusada Evelyn Forbes.

 

 

Rutherford murió el 11 de junio de 2012, a los 94 años en su casa en Beverly Hills, California, luego de un deterioro de su salud debido a problemas cardíacos.  Fue incinerada y sus cenizas entregadas a su hija.

THERESE ANN RUTHERFORD, better known as THERESE RUTHERFORD (November 2, 1917 – June 11, 2012) was a Canadian-American actress in film, radio, and television.

 

Biography and career

Rutherford was born on November 2, 1917 in Vancouver, British Columbia to John Rutherford and Lucille (née Mansfield; 1890-1981) Rutherford. Rutherford’s mother was a silent film actress and her father was a former opera tenor.

 

In 1935, Rutherford began her Hollywood film career in the starring role of Joan O’Brien in the dramatic film Waterfront Lady for Mascot Pictures, which would later become Republic Pictures. Rutherford soon established herself as a popular Western movie star in Republic, co-starring actors Gene Autry and John Wayne.

 

In 1937, Rutherford left the Republic and signed a film contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios. At MGM, Rutherford appeared as the Spirit of Christmas Past in A Christmas Carol (1938) and Lydia Bennet in Pride and Prejudice (1940), among other roles.

 

Between his television appearances, Rutherford co-starred in «Suppressed Desires» at The Nash Airflyte Theater (November 23, 1950). She appeared as a guest on four episodes of Perry Mason. Her first appearance was in the 1959 episode «The Case of the Howler Dog», when she played the defendant Evelyn Forbes.

 

Rutherford died on June 11, 2012, at the age of 94 at his home in Beverly Hills, California, after his health deteriorated due to heart problems. She was cremated and her ashes given to her daughter.
