Hija de Edmond Cloutier, el impresor del rey en Ottawa, Suzanne Cloutier escapó de un matrimonio temprano no consumado para convertirse en actriz, primero con Charles Laughton en Nueva York y luego en la Comédie Française. Apareció en películas de Julien Duvivier y Marcel Carné , interpretó a Desdemona en la película Othello (1951) de Orson Welles y apareció en Doctor in the House (1954, el éxito del año en Gran Bretaña).

SUZANNE CLOUTIER (July 10, 1923 – December 2, 2003) was a Canadian film actress.
The daughter of Edmond Cloutier, the king’s printer in Ottawa, Suzanne Cloutier escaped an early unconsummated marriage to become an actress, first to Charles Laughton in New York and then to the Comédie Française. She appeared in films by Julien Duvivier and Marcel Carné, played Desdemona in Orson Welles’ film Othello (1951), and appeared in Doctor in the House (1954, Britain’s hit of the year).
She had previously acted in London in a Peter Ustinov play, and the two were married in 1954. They had three children, Andrea, Igor, and Pavla, and Cloutier appeared in his theatrical hit film Romanoff and Juliet. The couple divorced in 1971, when Cloutier reconnected with Orson Welles, and then the movie work never ended. Cloutier later resettled in Los Angeles, and finally Montreal, Canada, in 1988.
