Biografía: ROBERT MONTGOMERY fue un actor y director estadounidense, tuvo una infancia privilegiada, pues su padre era presidente de la New York Rubber Company. Cuando su padre falleció, la fortuna familiar desapareció, y el joven Robert fue a Nueva York para abrirse camino escribiendo y actuando. Coincidir en el escenario con George Cukor le dio la oportunidad de ir a Hollywood donde, en 1929, debutó en So This is College. Norma Shearer le eligió para trabajar junto a ella en Private Lives (Solo ella lo sabe) en 1931, y se convirtió en una estrella.
En esa época, Montgomery apareció en la primera versión filmada de When Ladies Meet (De mujer a mujer) (1933). En 1937, protagonizó junto a Marion Davies Ever Since Eve, a partir de una obra del dramaturgo de moda entonces, Lawrence Riley.

ROBERT MONTGOMERY, He was an American actor and director, he had a privileged childhood, as his father was president of the New York Rubber Company. When his father passed away, the family fortune disappeared, and young Robert went to New York to make his way through writing and acting. Meeting George Cukor on stage gave him the opportunity to go to Hollywood where, in 1929, he made his debut at So This is College. Norma Shearer chose him to work alongside her on Private Lives (Only She Knows) in 1931, and he became a star.
Around this time, Montgomery appeared in the first filmed version of When Ladies Meet (1933). In 1937, she starred opposite Marion Davies in Ever Since Eve, based on a play by then-fashion playwright Lawrence Riley.
In 1945 he returned to Hollywood, making his directing debut, but without credits, with They Were Expendable, where he directed some of the PT Boat scenes when director John Ford was unable to work due to health reasons.
In 1948, he presented the Oscars. He also hosted a popular television series, Robert Montgomery Presents, in the 1950s.
He was married to Elizabeth Bryan Allen from 1928 to 1950, the date of their divorce, and to Elizabeth Grant Harkness, from 1950 until his death in New York in 1981, aged 77, due to cancer. His children were actress Elizabeth Montgomery and Robert Montgomery Jr.
