RICHARD DENNING (fue un actor estadounidense)

RICHARD DENNING (27 de marzo de 1914 – 11 de octubre de 1998) fue un actor estadounidense conocido por su trabajo en películas como Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) y An Affair to Remember (1957), así como por su papel de marido de Lucille Ball en My Favorite Husband (1948–1951), antecedente de la serie televisiva I Love Lucy, en la cual Denning fue reemplazado por el marido de Ball en la vida real, Desi Arnaz.

Biografía y carrera
Su verdadero nombre era LOUIS ALBERT HEINDRICH DENNINGER, JR, y nació en Poughkeepsie, Nueva York. Fue un actor conocido principalmente por su papel recurrente del Gobernador de Hawái Paul Jameson en la serie de la CBS Hawaii Five-O (1968–1980). También interpretó el papel del título en la serie detectivesca Michael Shayne (1960–61), y compartió cartel con Barbara Britton en otra serie de detectives, Mr. and Mrs. North (1952–1954). En ese período Denning y su familia vivían en una casa móvil que él aparcaba alternativamente en Malibú (California) y Palm Springs. Su inactividad finalizó al ser contratado para trabajar con Lucille Ball en el programa radiofónico My Favorite Husband.

Denning estaba ya retirado y viviendo en la isla de Maui con su esposa, cuando el productor Leonard Freeman le ofreció actuar como el Gobernador en una nueva serie, Hawaii Five-O. Freeman le garantizó un horario semanal adecuado a fin de convencerle para aceptar el trabajo.

Biography and career
His real name was LOUIS ALBERT HEINDRICH DENNINGER, JR, and he was born in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was an actor best known for his recurring role as the Governor of Hawaii Paul Jameson on the CBS series Hawaii Five-O (1968–1980). He also played the title role on the detective series Michael Shayne (1960–61), and starred with Barbara Britton in another detective series, Mr. and Mrs. North (1952–1954). Later he was Dr. Greg Graham in «The Flying Doctor» (1959). In addition, he was featured three times on the ABC anthology series Crossroads.
According to Denning, due to World War II he had to temporarily withdraw from his profession and, after his return, he was unemployed for 18 months before Paramount Pictures gave him a job. At that time Denning and his family lived in a mobile home that he parked alternately in Malibu (California) and Palm Springs. His inactivity ended when he was hired to work with Lucille Ball on the radio show My Favorite Husband.

Denning was already retired and living on the island of Maui with his wife, when producer Leonard Freeman offered him to act as the Governor in a new series, Hawaii Five-O. Freeman guaranteed him a suitable weekly schedule in order to convince him to accept the job.

Death
Richard Denning died in Escondido, California, in 1998, due to cardiac arrest. He was buried in the Maui Veterans Cemetery.
