RICHARD DONALD CRENNA, más conocido como RICHARD CRENNA (Los Ángeles, California, 30 de noviembre de 1926–17 de enero de 2003) fue un actor de cine estadounidense.
Biografía y carrera
Nació en el seno de una familia de inmigrantes italianos de la región de Toscana. Su padre era farmacéutico y su madre regentaba un hotel. Fue educado en la Belmont High School y en la Universidad del Sur de California.
Inició su carrera interpretativa en la radio, actuando en los programas My Favorite Husband, Boy Scout Jamboree, A Date With Judy, The Great Gildersleeve y Our Miss Brooks. Continuó en el reparto del último, cuando fue trasladada su emisión a la televisión. Tras Our Miss Brooks, actuó en otro programa televisivo, The Real McCoys, protagonizado por Walter Brennan. Además, Crenna interpretó el papel principal en la temporada de 1964 de la serie Slattery’s People. Trabajó en El Yang-Tsé en llamas junto a Steve McQueen.
Es mundialmente conocido por su papel del Coronel Trautman, antiguo superior de John Rambo, en la trilogía sobre este personaje. Tiene su máxima participación en Rambo III, luchando codo a codo con el protagonista del film. Biography and career
He was born into a family of Italian immigrants from the Tuscany region. His father was a pharmacist and his mother ran a hotel. He was educated at Belmont High School and the University of Southern California.
He began his acting career on radio, performing on the shows My Favorite Husband, Boy Scout Jamboree, A Date With Judy, The Great Gildersleeve, and Our Miss Brooks. It continued in the distribution of the last one, when its broadcast was transferred to television. After Our Miss Brooks, she starred on another television show, The Real McCoys, starring Walter Brennan. Additionally, Crenna played the title role on the 1964 season of the series Slattery’s People. He worked on The Burning Yangtze alongside Steve McQueen.
He is known worldwide for his role as Colonel Trautman, John Rambo’s former superior, in the trilogy about this character. He has his maximum participation in Rambo III, fighting side by side with the protagonist of the film. In a scene where he is being tortured, he says one of the most famous phrases of the saga, when the Russian colonel, amazed by all the disaster that Rambo caused, being completely alone, tells Trautman: «One man, in front of commandos trained … Who does he think he is … God? » And Trautman responds, with difficulty from the application of torture: «God would have mercy … he will not have it.» That dialogue, to this day, is interpreted with hilarity, disbelief and amazement. He had an extensive acting career and played characters with leadership responsibilities with some success.
He was married to Penni Sweeney, from 1959 to 2003, the year he died of pancreatic cancer, in his hometown, at the age of 76.
He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6714 Hollywood Boulevard.
