RAYMOND BURR; nacido RAYMOND WILLIAM STACEY BURR (New Westminster, Columbia Británica, Canadá; 21 de mayo de 1917-Healdsburg, California; 12 de septiembre de 1993) fue un actor canadiense ganador de Premios Emmy, y conocido principalmente por sus trabajos en las series televisivas Perry Mason (1957-1966) y Ironside (1967-1975).

Biografía y carrera
Sus padres fueron William Johnston Burr (1889-1985), de origen irlandés, y Minerva Smith (1892-1974), pianista y profesora de música estadounidense. Pasó parte de su infancia en China, donde su padre trabajaba como agente comercial. Tras el divorcio de sus padres, se trasladó a Vallejo (California) con su madre y sus hermanos.

En 1937 Burr inició su carrera actuando en el Pasadena Playhouse. En 1941 hizo su primer papel en Broadway, en la obra Crazy with the Heart. Fue contratado por el estudio RKO, interpretando principalmente a villanos, y trabajó en más de 60 filmes entre 1946 y 1957. Burr tuvo críticas favorables por su papel de fiscal en Un lugar en el sol (1951), junto a Elizabeth Taylor y Montgomery Clift, pero quizás su papel más conocido de ese período fue el que llevó a cabo en el filme de Alfred Hitchcock La ventana indiscreta (1954), protagonizado por James Stewart y Grace Kelly.

His parents were William Johnston Burr (1889-1985), of Irish origin, and Minerva Smith (1892-1974), American pianist and music teacher. He spent part of his childhood in China, where his father worked as a commercial agent. After the divorce of his parents, he moved to Vallejo (California) with his mother and his brothers.

In 1937 Burr began his career performing at the Pasadena Playhouse. In 1941 he made his first role on Broadway, in the play Crazy with the Heart. He was hired by the RKO studio, playing mainly villains, and worked in more than 60 films between 1946 and 1957. Burr received favorable reviews for his role as a prosecutor in A Place in the Sun (1951), alongside Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift. But perhaps his best-known role from that period was that of Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window (1954), starring James Stewart and Grace Kelly.

At the time, Burr’s signature voice could be heard on the radio, working alongside Jack Webb on the ABC radio series Pat Novak for Hire, as well as early episodes of the NBC Dragnet show.
