Biography and career
Arledge majored in engineering in college, but eventually his work at a small theater turned his interest toward acting. He performed in vaudeville before taking on his first film role in 1931.
He played dozens of supporting roles in Hollywood movies of the 1930s and 1940s, including the tractor driver who destroys a house in The Grapes of Wrath.
