JAMES GORDON MACARTHUR (8 de diciembre de 1937–28 de octubre de 2010) fue un actor estadounidense, conocido sobre todo por su papel de Danny «Danno» Williams en le serie televisiva Hawaii Five-O.
Biografía y carrera
Nacido en Los Ángeles, California, fue hijo adoptivo del dramaturgo Charles MacArthur y de la actriz Helen Hayes. Se crio en Nyack, Nueva York, junto a su hermana biológica, Mary. Estudió en la Allen-Stevenson School de la ciudad de Nueva York, y posteriormente en la Solebury School de New Hope (Pensilvania), donde destacó en baloncesto, fútbol americano y béisbol.
Su primer papel radiofónico tuvo lugar en Theatre Guild of the Air en 1948. Theatre Guild of the Air era el principal programa del momento, produciendo obras de una hora de duración que se representaban frente a un público de 800 espectadores.
Su debut como actor teatral ocurrió en Olney (Maryland), en 1949, actuando durante dos semanas en The Corn is Green. Al verano siguiente repitió el papel en Dennis, Massachusetts, poniéndose en marcha su carrera teatral. En 1954 fue John Day en Life With Father, con Howard Lindsay y Dorothy Stickney. Además, de como intérprete, Mac Arthur trabajó como pintor de decorados, director de iluminación y jefe de aparcamiento.

Biography and career
Born in Los Angeles, California, he was the adopted son of playwright Charles MacArthur and actress Helen Hayes. He grew up in Nyack, New York, alongside his biological sister, Mary. He studied at the Allen-Stevenson School in New York City, and later at the Solebury School in New Hope (Pennsylvania), where he excelled in basketball, American football, and baseball.
His first radio role took place at the Theater Guild of the Air in 1948. Theater Guild of the Air was the main program of the day, producing hour-long plays that were performed in front of an audience of 800 spectators.
His debut as a stage actor occurred in Olney (Maryland), in 1949, acting for two weeks in The Corn is Green. The following summer he reprized the role in Dennis, Massachusetts, kicking off his theatrical career. In 1954 he was John Day in Life With Father, with Howard Lindsay and Dorothy Stickney. In addition to being a performer, Mac Arthur worked as a set painter, lighting director and parking manager.
In addition to his theater and film work, MacArthur also did television guest appearances, with roles in Studio One, General Electric Theater, the Bus Stop series, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, The Eleventh Hour, The Great Adventure, The Alfred Hitchcock. Hour, Combat! and The Virginian.
In his later years he participated in radio and television specials and in talk shows. James MacArthur died of natural causes on October 28, 2010 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
