JOSEPH PATRICK CARROL NAISH, más conocido como J. CARROL NAISH (21 de enero de 1896 – 24 de enero de 1973) fue un actor estadounidense. Apareció en más de 200 créditos durante la Edad de Oro de Hollywood.

Nació en la ciudad de Nueva York, hijo de Catherine (Moran) y Patrick Naish, que había emigrado del condado de Limerick , Irlanda, alrededor de 1890. El pequeño papel no acreditado de Naish en What Price Glory? (1926) lanzó su carrera en más de doscientas películas. He was born in New York City, the son of Catherine (Moran) and Patrick Naish, who had emigrated from County Limerick, Ireland, around 1890. Naish’s small uncredited role in What Price Glory? (1926) launched his career in more than two hundred films. He was twice nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, the first time for his role as Giuseppe in the film Sahara (1943).
The second was for his portrayal of the title character’s Hispanic father in the film A Medal for Benny (1945). For the latter film, he won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture.
He often played villains, from gangsters in numerous Paramount films to mad scientists, such as Dr. Daka in the Batman film series. In the 1940s, Naish was a supporting character in several horror films. He played Boris Karloff’s assistant in House of Frankenstein (1944).
On radio, Naish played Luigi Basco on the popular CBS show Life with Luigi (1948-1953). Luigi’s popularity resulted in a CBS television series of the same name, with Naish reprising his role. In 1971, he appeared in his last film role, Dracula vs. Frankenstein (1971), as a mad scientist.
Naish retired to San Diego and died of emphysema on January 24, 1973, at Scripps Memorial Hospital in nearby La Jolla, California, three days after his 77th birthday. He is buried in Calvary Cemetery in East Los Angeles, California.
