GENE KELLY, fue un actor, cantante, bailarín, director y coreógrafo estadounidense. Gene Kelly nació en uno de los barrios más humildes de Pittsburgh (Pensilvania), en el seno de una familia obrera. Su padre era vendedor de fonógrafos y su madre, Harriet, fue la encargada de hacer que Gene y sus hermanos se interesaran por el mundo de la danza.

Fue ella quien propulsó la formación del grupo The Five Kellys, compuesto por los cinco hermanos. Tras deshacerse el grupo, él y su hermano Fred continuaron bailando y preparando enérgicas coreografías bajo el nombre de The Kelly Brothers.

Un americano en París (An american in Paris, 1951; de Vincente Minnelli) fue la película que elevó a Kelly al rango de superestrella.

Fue uno de los mayores éxitos del año, llegando a conseguir seis Premios Óscar de la Academia, entre los que destacan el de «Mejor película», y uno honorífico por la versatilidad de Gene como actor, cantante, bailarín, director, coreógrafo y, más concretamente, por su aportación al género del musical.

GENE KELLY, was an American actor, singer, dancer, director, and choreographer. Gene Kelly was born in one of the most humble neighborhoods of Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania), into a working class family. His father was a phonograph salesman and his mother, Harriet, was in charge of getting Gene and his brothers interested in the world of dance.

It was she who propelled the formation of the group The Five Kellys, made up of the five brothers. After the group was disbanded, he and his brother Fred continued dancing and preparing energetic choreography under the name The Kelly Brothers.

An American in Paris (An American in Paris, 1951; Vincente Minnelli) was the film that elevated Kelly to the rank of superstar.

It was one of the biggest successes of the year, reaching six Academy Awards, including «Best Picture», and an honorary one for Gene’s versatility as an actor, singer, dancer, director, choreographer and, more specifically, for his contribution to the musical genre.

In 1967, Gene Kelly participated in the classic animated production Jack and the Beanstalk. This wonderful realization, a mixture of animations and real characters, tells the adventures of Jeremy (Gene Kelly) with Jack (Bobby Rhia), who climb the trunk of a giant bean to the palace of an ogre.

Gene Kelly died on February 2, 1996 of complications from two strokes suffered in July 1994 and in February 1995.
