EVELYN LOUISE KEYES, más conocida como EVELYN KEYES (20 de noviembre de 1916 – 4 de julio de 2008) fue una actriz de cine estadounidense. Es mejor conocida por su papel de Suellen O’Hara en la película de 1939 Lo que el viento se llevó.

Biografía y carrera

Evelyn Keyes nació en Port Arthur, Texas, de Omar Dow Keyes y Maude Ollive Keyes, la hija de un ministro metodista. Después de que Omar Keyes murió cuando ella tenía tres años, Keyes se mudó con su madre a Atlanta, Georgia, donde vivían con sus abuelos. Cuando era adolescente, Keyes tomó lecciones de baile y actuó en clubes locales como Daughters of the Confederacy.

EVELYN LOUISE KEYES, better known as EVELYN KEYES (November 20, 1916 – July 4, 2008) was an American film actress. She is best known for her role as Suellen O’Hara in the 1939 film Gone with the Wind.

Biography and career

Evelyn Keyes was born in Port Arthur, Texas, to Omar Dow Keyes and Maude Ollive Keyes, the daughter of a Methodist minister. After Omar Keyes died when she was three years old, Keyes moved with her mother to Atlanta, Georgia, where they lived with her grandparents. As a teenager, Keyes took dance lessons and performed at local clubs like Daughters of the Confederacy.

After a handful of B-movies at Paramount Pictures, she landed a minor role in Gone with the Wind (1939), that of Scarlett O’Hara’s sister Suellen. (She was later interviewed for the 1988 documentary The Making of a Legend: Gone with the Wind.)

Columbia Pictures signed her to a contract. In 1941, she played a naive in Here Comes Mr. Jordan. He spent most of the 1940s playing lead roles in many of Columbia’s B-dramas and mysteries. She appeared as the female lead alongside Larry Parks in the Columbia blockbuster The Jolson Story (1946). He followed this up with a fun minor wacky comedy, The Mating of Millie, with Glenn Ford. In 1949 she played the role of Kathy Flannigan in Mrs. Mike.

Keyes’s last major movie role was a small role as Tom Ewell’s vacation wife in The Seven Year Itch. (1955), starring Marilyn Monroe. Keyes officially retired in 1956, but continued acting.

Keyes died on July 4, 2008 of uterine cancer at Pepper Estates in Montecito, California.
