The Wrong Arm of the Law (1963).

Biography and career

The son of a general, Dennis Price was initially destined for an ecclesiastical career but, after attending Oxford University, he enrolled at the Embassy School of Acting to study acting.

From 1938 he embarked on a long and initially successful film career. Discharged from the British Army in 1942 due to disability, he returned to acting in the theater where he was discovered by film director Michael Powell, who entrusted him with his first leading role, that of a young soldier, in A Canterbury Tale (1944).

Although he achieved immediate success, in the following years Price had few opportunities to appear in films of the same importance, despite participating in an infinite number of films produced in England and playing mainly sarcastic and refined characters. Among his most memorable roles are that of the murderous poor relative in the classic comedy Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949) and the supporting but very important characters he played in Victim (1961) and The Wrong Arm of the Law (1963).

Wodehouse, in a popular television series produced by the BBC, Price saw his film career decline during the 1960s and end his participation in a series of low-cost horror films, some directed by Jesús Franco.
