Biografía: BARBARA BATES, fue una modelo, actriz de cine y televisión estadounidense, conocida por su papel de Phoebe en All about Eve (Eva al desnudo) (1950). Barbara era la mayor de las tres hijas de una empleada postal, nacida en Denver, Colorado. Mientras crecía en Denver, estudió ballet y trabajó como una modelo adolescente en varios desfiles.

La tímida joven fue persuadida para entrar en un concurso de belleza, el cual ganó, recibiendo dos pasajes ida y vuelta en tren a Hollywood, California.

Dos días antes de regresar a su ciudad natal, se reunió con Cecil Coan, un publicista de United Artists, reunión que cambiaría el curso de su vida para siempre. Inició su carrera a los 19 años de edad.

En septiembre de 1944, Bates firmó un contrato con Universal Pictures después de que Cecil Coan la presentara al productor Walter Wanger.

Poco después, fue elegida como una de las “Siete niñas Salome” en el drama de 1945 Salome Where She Danced, protagonizada por Yvonne De Carlo. BARBARA BATES, She was an American model, film and television actress, known for her role as Phoebe in All about Eve (1950). Barbara was the eldest of three daughters of a postal worker, born in Denver, Colorado. While growing up in Denver, she studied ballet and worked as a teenage model in various shows.

The shy young woman was persuaded to enter a beauty pageant, which she won, receiving two round-trip train tickets to Hollywood, California.

Two days before returning to his hometown, he met with Cecil Coan, a publicist for United Artists, a meeting that would change the course of his life forever. He began his career at 19 years of age.

In September 1944, Bates signed a contract with Universal Pictures after Cecil Coan introduced her to producer Walter Wanger.

Soon after, she was cast as one of the “Seven Salome Girls” in the 1945 drama Salome Where She Danced, starring Yvonne De Carlo. She then spent the next few years as a stock actress, in small supporting roles in movies, and posing as a pin-up for magazines like Yank, the Army Weekly, and Life.

It was one of those photoshoots that caught the attention of Warner Bros. executives who hired her in 1947. She appeared with Hollywood stars like Bette Davis in June Bride and Danny Kaye in The Inspector General.
