During Sony’s PlayStation Showcase on Wednesday, May 24th, we got a brand new look at the upcoming survival horror game, Alan Wake 2, as well as a release date. Alan Wake 2 is a follow-up to Remedy Entertainment’s cult hit 2013 game, Alan Wake, and was officially announced back in 2021 at The Game Awards.
Once again, the game follows the titular character Alan Wake who has gone missing 13 years prior. He seems to be trapped in a vivid nightmare. We also meet Saga Anderson, an FBI Agent who will act as a secondary playable character alongside Wake, investigating Wake’s disappearance.

The story takes us back to Bright Falls, where Anderson, page by page, begins to uncover a horror story seemingly written by Alan himself, trying to escape the dark place he finds himself in.
Alan Wake 2 is set to release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC on October 17th, 2023. Check out the all-new trailer below!
Initially released in May 2010 for Xbox 360, bestselling crime novelist Alan Wake takes a much-needed vacation with his wife, Alice. The couple visits the seemingly idyllic lakeside town of Bright Falls, Washington, hoping it will help relieve Alan’s writer’s block. However, when something sinister drags Alice into the lake, Alan begins hallucinating and blacking out, all while looking for his wife and searching for answers about what’s happening. The game’s ending has had fans speculating for years, so let’s hope the sequel provides some closure.
As reported by Deadline in May 2022, AMC has acquired the rights for an Alan Wake TV series. We may see a small-screen adaptation soon, especially with an upcoming game in development and following the success of The Last of Us on HBO Max (now called Max).
