El Polo Sur Geogr\u00e1fico se localiza en el extremo austral de un planeta, equivalente a la latitud 90\u00b0S, donde convergen todos los meridianos. Se define como el lugar donde el eje de rotaci\u00f3n intercepta a la superficie y son aplicables iguales observaciones que para el polo norte. Los primeros humanos en llegar al Polo Sur Geogr\u00e1fico fueron el noruego, Roald Amundsen, con su grupo en el a\u00f1o 1911. Amundsen llam\u00f3 a su campamento Polheim y todo lo que rodeaba al polo, Haakon VII Vidde en honor al Rey Haakon VII de Noruega.
