Se le reconoce como uno de los m\u00e1s populares de su \u00e9poca y g\u00e9nero. Tambi\u00e9n conocido con los apelativos de El M\u00fasico Poeta y El Flaco de Oro, su obra fue ampliamente apreciada no solo en M\u00e9xico, sino tambi\u00e9n en Centroam\u00e9rica, Sudam\u00e9rica, el Caribe y Espa\u00f1a. Luego de su muerte, se le ha reconocido tambi\u00e9n en Estados Unidos, Italia y Jap\u00f3n.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sus int\u00e9rpretes principales fueron y son Pedro Vargas, quien era su compadre, To\u00f1a la Negra (Mar\u00eda Antonia Peregrino \u00c1lvarez), Pedro Infante, Juan Arvizu, Nestor Mesta Chayres, Javier Sol\u00eds, Alejandro Algara, Hugo Avenda\u00f1o, Pl\u00e1cido Domingo, Julio Iglesias, Manuel Mijares, Vicente Fern\u00e1ndez, P\u00e9rez Prado y otros artistas m\u00e1s.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">No hay certezas sobre la fecha ni el lugar de nacimiento. El m\u00fasico aseguraba haber nacido en Tlacotalpan, Veracruz, el 1 de octubre de 1900.1\u200b As\u00ed figura en varias de sus biograf\u00edas, y ese es el a\u00f1o grabado en su tumba ubicada en la Rotonda de las Personas Ilustres.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sin embargo, el periodista Jaime Almeida asegur\u00f3, luego de una investigaci\u00f3n realizada en 1970, que el compositor naci\u00f3 realmente en la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico, el 1 de octubre de 1900, bas\u00e1ndose en la fe de bautizo y el acta de nacimiento que encontr\u00f3 en el Registro Civil: \u00abLara naci\u00f3 en un lugar llamado El Callej\u00f3n Puente del Cuervo n\u00famero 16, que ahora corresponde a la segunda calle de Rep\u00fablica de Colombia, en el Centro Hist\u00f3rico, a unas calles del mercado Abelardo Rodr\u00edguez. De hecho a\u00fan est\u00e1 la casa donde viv\u00eda la familia Lara Aguirre.\u00bb Es decir, que Agust\u00edn Lara se quitaba tres a\u00f1os. Pero tambi\u00e9n es cierto que siendo muy peque\u00f1o la familia se mud\u00f3 a Tlacotalpan, donde pas\u00f3 su infancia. Otros aceptan esta fecha, pero entienden que el lugar real del nacimiento no fue la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico sino en Tlatlauquitepec, Puebla. La familia viv\u00eda all\u00ed, pero como el padre del futuro artista ten\u00eda que pasar examen de m\u00e9dico, se trasladaron a la capital de M\u00e9xico y all\u00ed aprovech\u00f3 la ocasi\u00f3n para inscribir a su hijo en el Registro Civil, trece d\u00edas despu\u00e9s de haber nacido, el 12 de noviembre de 1897. Seg\u00fan el autor, todas las personas que entrevist\u00f3 en Tlatlauquitepec aseguran que Lara naci\u00f3 en ese lugar.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En el libro Mi novia la tristeza los autores aceptan la fecha y lugar del acta de nacimiento y se preguntan: \u00abEn una vecindad de esa calle viv\u00eda el doctor Joaqu\u00edn M. Lara y su esposa Mar\u00eda Aguirre, padres del compositor. El se\u00f1or Lara le dijo al juez del Registro Civil, el licenciado Wenceslado Brice\u00f1o, que su hijo hab\u00eda nacido en esa casa. Ni el padre de Agust\u00edn ni su madre ni los testigos Carlos Mar\u00eda Padilla y Jacinto Lara ten\u00eda ninguna necesidad de mentir acerca de este hecho. He is recognized as one of the most popular of his time and genre. The musician claimed to have been born in Tlacotalpan, Veracruz, on October 1, 1900. The family lived there, but since the father of the future artist had to pass a medical exam, they moved to the capital of Mexico and there he took the opportunity to register his son in the Civil Registry, thirteen days after being born, on the 12th.
