Fue un cantante de rock de origen costarricense. Es conocido como el padre del rock en Costa Rica debido a que, en su pa\u00eds de origen, fue uno de los pioneros de la m\u00fasica rock junto con Enrique Ram\u00edrez, tambi\u00e9n fundador de la agrupaci\u00f3n Caf\u00e9 con Leche.<\/div>\n

Jos\u00e9 Alejandro Capmany Ulacia, conocido solo como Jos\u00e9 Capmany, fue un cantante de rock de origen costarricense, hijo de inmigrantes cubanos, nacido en 1961 y fallecido en el a\u00f1o 2001.<\/div>\n

En su juventud estudi\u00f3 en el Colegio Saint Clare donde form\u00f3 el grupo OPS y m\u00e1s tarde la banda Ciclos D, con el que inici\u00f3 la propuesta de rock tico. Es considerado por la mayor\u00eda como el padre del rock en Costa Rica, aunque existe pol\u00e9mica por su antiguo compa\u00f1ero Enrique Ram\u00edrez que ha pasado desapercibido.<\/div>\n

Para esta \u00e9poca firman con la transnacional Sony Music, y es para esta \u00e9poca que sale al mercado su primer vinyl “Rock” (1987) grabado en los estudios de Indica\/CBS. De esta primera producci\u00f3n se desprenden los primeros \u00e9xitos del grupo, como fueron ‘Mam\u00e1 y Pap\u00e1’, ‘La Historia Salvaje (Gloria)’ y ‘La Modelo’, que con el tiempo se convierten en cl\u00e1sicos del rock nacional.<\/div>\n

Producto del \u00e9xito alcanzado con ‘Rock’, en 1988 sale al mercado ‘Pollos Mix’, un maxi en vinyl que conten\u00eda 4 versiones de ‘La Historia Salvaje’, adem\u00e1s de unas tarjetas de colecci\u00f3n dibujadas por los propios miembros del grupo. En ese a\u00f1o, Enrique Ram\u00edrez deja la banda.<\/div>\n

El 13 de octubre de 2001, a los 40 a\u00f1os de edad, fallece Jos\u00e9 Capmany en un accidente automovil\u00edstico sobre la carretera que cruza el Cerro de la Muerte, cuando viajaba hacia Playa Dominical con su familia.<\/div>\n

In his youth he studied at Saint Clare College where he formed the group OPS and later the band Ciclos D, with which he started the Tico rock proposal. At this time they signed with the transnational Sony Music, and it was around this time that their first vinyl “Rock” (1987), recorded in the Indica \/ CBS studios, was released on the market. From this first production the first successes of the group emerge, such as ‘Mam\u00e1 y Pap\u00e1’, ‘La Historia Salvaje (Gloria)’ and ‘La Modelo’, which over time became classics of national rock.<\/div>\n

On October 13, 2001, at the age of 40, Jos\u00e9 Capmany died in a car accident on the road that crosses the Cerro de la Muerte, when he was traveling to Playa Dominical with his family.<\/div>\n
