Fue una cantante estadounidense de ascendencia mexicana, int\u00e9rprete de m\u00fasica tex-mex, ranchera, balada, pop latino y cumbia mexicana, adem\u00e1s de empresaria, modelo, bailarina, actriz y dise\u00f1adora de modas. Conocida simplemente como Selena, se la considera una gran exponente de la m\u00fasica latina con ventas superiores a los 70 millones de discos a nivel mundial, lo que la convierte en una de las latinas con m\u00e1s discos vendidos solo despu\u00e9s de Gloria Estefan y Shakira, quienes han vendido respectivamente alrededor de 90 y 100 millones de copias a nivel mundial.<\/div>\n

Inici\u00f3 su carrera musical a los diez a\u00f1os al lado de sus hermanos Suzette y Abraham Quintanilla III, y grab\u00f3 su primer \u00e1lbum a la edad de catorce a\u00f1os. En los a\u00f1os 1980, fue criticada y rechazada varias veces por presentarse cantando m\u00fasica tejana, un g\u00e9nero solo dominado por los hombres. She was an American singer of Mexican descent, performer of Tex-Mex, ranchera, ballad, Latin pop, and Mexican cumbia music, as well as a businesswoman, model, dancer, actress, and fashion designer. Known simply as Selena, she is considered a great exponent of Latin music with sales of over 70 million records worldwide, which makes her one of the Latinas with the most sold albums only after Gloria Estefan and Shakira, who they have sold about 90 and 100 million copies worldwide, respectively.<\/div>\n

He began his musical career at the age of ten with his brothers Suzette and Abraham Quintanilla III, and recorded his first album at the age of fourteen.
