La asamblea, propuesta dos a\u00f1os antes en la VIII Conferencia Internacional Americana, se llev\u00f3 a cabo en P\u00e1tzcuaro, M\u00e9xico, entre el 14 y el 24 de abril.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de establecer el D\u00eda Americano del Indio, en el congreso fue aprobada una declaraci\u00f3n de principios concerniente al respeto, a la solidaridad y a la no discriminaci\u00f3n de los pueblos ind\u00edgenas.
