Fue un cantante, m\u00fasico multi-instrumentista (vibr\u00e1fono, trompeta y bater\u00eda), bailar\u00edn, actor y comediante estadounidense. Fue parte del “Rat Pack” que dentro de sus miembros contaba con Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Peter Lawford y Joey Bishop.<\/div>\n

Naci\u00f3 en Harlem, Nueva York, hijo de Elvera S\u00e1nchez y de Sammy Davis, Sr., los dos formaban pareja de baile de vodevil. Durante sus primeros tres a\u00f1os estuvo b\u00e1sicamente a cargo de su abuela y, cuando sus padres se separaron, para no perder su custodia, el padre se lo llev\u00f3 de gira. De \u00e9l y de su t\u00edo Will Mastin aprendi\u00f3 a bailar, terminando por formar con ellos el Will Mastin Trio.<\/div>\n

He was an American singer, multi-instrumentalist musician (vibraphone, trumpet, and drums), dancer, actor, and comedian. He was part of the “Rat Pack” that among its members included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop.<\/div>\n

He was born in Harlem, New York, the son of Elvera S\u00e1nchez and Sammy Davis, Sr., the two were a vaudeville dance couple. For the first three years he was basically in charge of his grandmother and, when his parents separated, so as not to lose custody of him, his father took him on tour. From him and his uncle Will Mastin learned to dance, eventually forming the Will Mastin Trio with them.<\/div>\n

Although constantly protected by Mastin and his father from racist attacks, during his enlistment in the US Army in the period of World War II, Davis inevitably suffered from strong racial prejudice.<\/div>\n

This situation, constant throughout much of his career, managed to be softened by his artistic talent, through his participation in a show group within the army.<\/div>\n

The iconic performer also released a steady stream of albums on Decca and Reprise (Davis was the first artist to be signed to the second label, which was released by Sinatra). Davis was nominated for a Grammy for Best Song of the Year for the song “What Kind of Fool Am I?”, Which reached the Top 20 on the Billboard charts as well. He accompanied him on stage with live performances to earn the honors, as seen with his performance during his 1964 Tony Award nomination for his musical Golden Boy.<\/div>\n
