He is an American country actor and musician. Born and raised in Texas, he began working as a singer in the 1980s after studying journalism. In 1986 he signed with RCA Records and released a debut album under his title name.<\/div>\n

Over the course of his career, he has won four Grammy Awards: Best Country Album, in 1997, for El Camino a Ensenada; Best Country Vocal Performance by a Group or Duo in 1994 for The Blues for Dixie featuring Asleep at the Wheel; Best Vocal Collaboration in 1994 for Funny How Time Slips Away with Al Green; and Best Country Vocal Performance in 1989.<\/div>\n
