Sus padres eran Julio Iglesias Puga y Mar\u00eda del Rosario de la Cueva y Peligna. Desde muy peque\u00f1o el primer inter\u00e9s de Julio fue por el deporte y no por la m\u00fasica y el canto. En ese sentido, fue guardameta en el equipo de f\u00fatbol del Real Madrid. Durante su etapa escolar se dedic\u00f3 al f\u00fatbol, pero luego sus padres le insistieron que deb\u00eda estudiar Derecho, ingres\u00f3 al Colegio Mayor de San Pablo. En el a\u00f1o de 1962, sufri\u00f3 un grave accidente de tr\u00e1fico que casi le quita la vida, pero gracias a los esfuerzos m\u00e9dicos qued\u00f3 con vida, pero qued\u00f3 semiparal\u00edtico. Estuvo en dicha condici\u00f3n durante un a\u00f1o y medio.<\/div>\n

En su proceso de recuperaci\u00f3n pas\u00f3 graves momentos de depresi\u00f3n, y encontr\u00f3 en la m\u00fasica un refugio. Aprendi\u00f3 a tocar la guitarra con su enfermero, quien fue quien le regal\u00f3 la guitarra. En suma, Julio se adentr\u00f3 en el mundo de la poes\u00eda; le gustaba o\u00edr la radio y escribir poemas. La mayor\u00eda de sus escritos hablaban sobre el fin del hombre en el mundo, estaba lleno de versos tristes y rom\u00e1nticos que representaban las etapas emocionales que estaba viviendo en ese momento. La verdad ve\u00eda la m\u00fasica y el canto como un hobbie porque en una ocasi\u00f3n fue rechazado en el coro de su colegio, y desde ah\u00ed sinti\u00f3 que no era su camino.<\/div>\n

Ahora bien, cuando se recuper\u00f3, comenz\u00f3 de nuevo con sus estudios y viaj\u00f3 a Londres para estudiar ingl\u00e9s, primero en Ramsgate y luego en Cambrige, exactamente en Bell\u2019s Language School. Empez\u00f3 a tomar lecciones de canto y tambi\u00e9n a presentarse espor\u00e1dicamente en algunos pubs, por ejemplo, el Air Port Pub. Aprendi\u00f3 a interpretar canciones que eran populares de Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, The Beatles. Al a\u00f1o siguiente, particip\u00f3 en el Festival de Brassow en Rumania y emprendi\u00f3 su primera gira por Am\u00e9rica. Comenz\u00f3 en el Festival de Vi\u00f1a del Mar y por la popularidad que alcanz\u00f3 fue convencida para grabar su primera pel\u00edcula: La vida sigue igual. Al tiempo, Julio Iglesias particip\u00f3 en el Festival de Eurovisi\u00f3n, fue presentado como el n\u00famero uno en las listas de todo el mundo. Su carrera estaba pasando por un gran momento, y firm\u00f3 contrato con CBS Internacional, de ah\u00ed sali\u00f3 un gran trabajo musical en franc\u00e9s y en italiano. En 1979 prob\u00f3 con el portugu\u00e9s: grab\u00f3 su primer \u00e1lbum. Lo anterior hizo que su nombre y su m\u00fasica fuera reconocida en todo el mundo, y que las personas tuvieran la oportunidad de conocerlo. El Libro Guinness de los R\u00e9cords le entreg\u00f3 en Par\u00eds el Disco de Diamantes por haber vendido m\u00e1s de cien millones de discos en seis idiomas.<\/div>\n

En definitiva, Julio Iglesias se convirti\u00f3 en uno de los artistas m\u00e1s populares en todo el mundo, vendi\u00f3 m\u00e1s de 300 millones de canciones contenidos en 80 \u00e1lbumes, logrando m\u00e1s de 1000 discos de oro y 500 de platino.<\/div>\n

His parents were Julio Iglesias Puga and Mar\u00eda del Rosario de la Cueva y Perignat. From a very young age, Julio’s first interest was in sports and not in music and singing. In that sense, he was a goalkeeper on the Real Madrid soccer team. During his school years he dedicated himself to soccer, but then his parents insisted that he should study Law, he entered the Colegio Mayor de San Pablo. In 1962, he suffered a serious traffic accident that almost took his life, but thanks to medical efforts he was left alive, but was left semi-paralyzed.
