Naci\u00f3 en Guayaquil, Ecuador, el 16 de septiembre de 1921, siendo sus padres Obdulio Rubira y Rosa Amarilis Infante Villao. Est\u00e1 casado con la destacada profesora Sra. Blanca Fanny G\u00f3mez Espinoza, procreando 5 hijos Gilda, Carlos, Juan, Pedro y Alba<\/p>\n

A los 20 a\u00f1os empez\u00f3 a interpretar sus canciones en \u2018La hora agr\u00edcola\u2019, programa de radio El Tel\u00e9grafo. Luego form\u00f3 el d\u00fao Vera Santos-Rubira. \u201cHasta cierto punto Gonzalo Vera fue mi maestro\u201d, afirma.<\/p>\n

Con Olimpo C\u00e1rdenas tambi\u00e9n form\u00f3 Los Porte\u00f1os. C\u00e1rdenas cantaba tangos y le pidi\u00f3 que le ense\u00f1ara pasillos porque no conoc\u00eda los ritmos. \u201cConmigo despu\u00e9s cant\u00f3 hasta yarav\u00ed. Y nada m\u00e1s he sido amigo, no he sido maestro de nadie\u201d, dice modestamente, pese a haber dirigido los primeros pasos de cantantes como Fresia Saavedra, Pepe y Julio Jaramillo, entre otros.<\/p>\n

Recuerda que conoci\u00f3 a los Jaramillo cuando ambos trabajaban en una zapater\u00eda de Brasil y Coronel, luego iban a su casa en Huancavilca entre Cacique \u00c1lvarez y Coronel para que les ense\u00f1ara algunas canciones.<\/p>\n

\u201cA Julio yo lo tom\u00e9 de 14 a\u00f1os. Con Vera Santos paseamos por Samborond\u00f3n y cantamos en tr\u00edo. Eso no lo dice nadie. Son pocos los que saben la historia completa de Jaramillo\u201d, dice.<\/p>\n

En el Correo comenz\u00f3 como cartero, pero no conoc\u00eda todas las calles de Guayaquil, entonces por las noches, pedaleando una bicicleta, recorr\u00eda la ciudad para conocerla. \u201cCuando ten\u00eda un momento libre, escrib\u00eda lo que hab\u00eda so\u00f1ado o correg\u00eda canciones\u201d, rememora.<\/p>\n

He was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, on September 16, 1921, his parents being Obdulio Rubira and Rosa Amarilis Infante Villao. He is married to the prominent teacher Mrs. Blanca Fanny G\u00f3mez Espinoza, having 5 children Gilda, Carlos, Juan, Pedro and Alba<\/p>\n

At the age of 20, he began to perform his songs on \u2018La hora agricultur\u2019, the radio program El Tel\u00e9grafo. Then he formed the duo Vera Santos-Rubira. “To some extent Gonzalo Vera was my teacher,” he says.<\/p>\n

With Olimpo C\u00e1rdenas he also formed Los Porte\u00f1os. C\u00e1rdenas sang tangos and asked him to show him corridors because he did not know the rhythms. \u201cWith me later he sang until yarav\u00ed. And I have just been a friend, I have not been anyone’s teacher \u201d, he says modestly, despite having directed the first steps of singers such as Fresia Saavedra, Pepe and Julio Jaramillo, among others.<\/p>\n

He remembers that he met the Jaramillos when they both worked in a shoe store in Brazil and Coronel, then went to his house in Huancavilca between Cacique \u00c1lvarez and Coronel to teach them some songs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI took Julio when he was 14 years old. With Vera Santos we walked through Samborond\u00f3n and sang in a trio. Nobody says that. Few people know the full story of Jaramillo, \u201dhe says.<\/p>\n

He started out as a postman at the Post Office, but he did not know all the streets of Guayaquil, so at night, pedaling a bicycle, he traveled the city to get to know her. “When I had a free moment, I would write what I had dreamed of or correct songs,” he recalls.<\/p>\n
