Se destac\u00f3 en campos que eran exclusivos del g\u00e9nero masculino rompiendo las reglas establecidas y fue la primera compositora mexicana que trascendi\u00f3 a nivel internacional.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Mar\u00eda Joaquina de la Portilla Torres naci\u00f3 el 16 de agosto de 1885 en Le\u00f3n, Guanajuato. 11 Sus padres fueron Francisco de la Portilla, espa\u00f1ol nacido en Sevilla y la mexicana Julia Torres.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Cuando ten\u00eda seis a\u00f1os viaj\u00f3 junto a su familia a la tierra natal de su padre.2 Mientras viv\u00eda en Europa recibi\u00f3 clases de m\u00fasica por parte de Claude Debussy y Franz Leh\u00e1r, entre otros maestros.3 Conoci\u00f3 a Le\u00f3n Augusto Grever en la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico en 1906, un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s contrajeron matrimonio y Mar\u00eda adopt\u00f3 el apellido de su esposo.4 La familia se traslad\u00f3 a Nueva York en 1916, debido a los disturbios provocados por la Revoluci\u00f3n Mexicana.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Al principio de la d\u00e9cada de 1920 se dedic\u00f3 al canto y grab\u00f3 dos discos en los Estados Unidos, tambi\u00e9n trabaj\u00f3 para la Paramount y la 20th Century Fox, como encargada de musicalizar varias pel\u00edculas. Por esa \u00e9poca comienza a componer canciones, pero su primer gran \u00e9xito llega cuando el tenor mexicano Jos\u00e9 Mojica graba su canci\u00f3n \u00abJ\u00farame\u00bb, convirti\u00e9ndose as\u00ed en su primer int\u00e9rprete.23 Sus canciones han sido grabadas por grandes int\u00e9rpretes como: Enrico Caruso, Ray Conniff, Bobby Darin, Nicol\u00e1s Urcelay, Andy Russell, Dinah Washington, Libertad Lamarque, Dean Martin, Aretha Franklin, Rod Stewart, Pl\u00e1cido Domingo, Alfonso Ortiz Tirado, Juan Arvizu, Nestor Mesta Chayres, Barry Manilow, Natalie Cole, Gloria Estefan, Amy Winehouse, Luis Miguel, John Serry Sr., Jos\u00e9 Mojica, Javier Sol\u00eds, entre otros.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">A lo largo de su vida compuso la letra y la m\u00fasica de cientos de canciones que fueron grabadas en ingl\u00e9s y espa\u00f1ol e hizo giras por Am\u00e9rica Latina y Europa.6 Mar\u00eda Grever rompi\u00f3 las reglas establecidas para las mujeres de su \u00e9poca, ya que destac\u00f3 en campos que eran exclusivos del g\u00e9nero masculino. Fue empresaria, directora de orquesta, representante de artistas y la primera compositora mexicana que trascendi\u00f3 a nivel internacional. She excelled in fields that were exclusive to the male gender, breaking the established rules and was the first Mexican composer to transcend internationally.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Mar\u00eda Joaquina de la Portilla Torres was born on August 16, 1885 in Le\u00f3n, Guanajuato. 11 His parents were Francisco de la Portilla, a Spaniard born in Seville, and the Mexican Julia Torres. When he was six years old, he traveled with his family to his father&#8217;s homeland.2 While living in Europe, he received music classes from Claude Debussy and Franz Leh\u00e1r, among other teachers.3 He met Le\u00f3n Augusto Grever in Mexico City in 1906, a year later they married and Mar\u00eda adopted her husband&#8217;s surname.4 The family moved to New York in 1916, due to the disturbances caused by the Mexican Revolution.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">At the beginning of the 1920s she dedicated herself to singing and recorded two albums in the United States, she also worked for Paramount and 20th Century Fox, as in charge of scoring several films. She was a businesswoman, conductor, artist representative and the first Mexican composer to transcend internationally.
