Fue un cantante y compositor espa\u00f1ol, que destac\u00f3 por sus habilidades con la guitarra y goz\u00f3 de cierta fama y popularidad en los a\u00f1os 1970. Particip\u00f3 de varios escenarios en Espa\u00f1a, M\u00e9xico, Costa Rica y Puerto Rico, entre otros pa\u00edses. Algunas de sus composiciones m\u00e1s destacadas fueron \u00abEl loco\u00bb, \u00abEl circo\u00bb y \u00abFrente a una copa de vino\u00bb.<\/div>\n

A temprana edad incursion\u00f3 en ese g\u00e9nero, participando de un concurso difundido por una radioemisora de C\u00e1diz, en un programa llamado Caf\u00e9 de redacci\u00f3n, impulsado y apoyado por su madre. Gan\u00f3 el primer premio y fue as\u00ed que inici\u00f3 su carrera art\u00edstica.16 Posteriormente cambi\u00f3 su nombre art\u00edstico por Luis Gas\u00e1n, uni\u00e9ndose al grupo musical \u00abLos Joselitos del Cante\u00bb, iniciando una serie de giras promocionales por Espa\u00f1a. En 1954, junto con su madre, se mud\u00f3 a la ciudad de Madrid, donde particip\u00f3 con un peque\u00f1o personaje de un film titulado Pobre ni\u00f1a rica. Posteriormente se desplaz\u00f3 a la ciudad de Barcelona.<\/div>\n

Su c\u00f3nyuge fue la italiana Marcella Basteri, con quien tuvo tres hijos: Luis Miguel, Alejandro Basteri y Sergio Gallego Basteri. Descubri\u00f3 tempranamente las cualidades art\u00edsticas de su primer hijo, y abandon\u00f3 su propia carrera para acompa\u00f1arlo y representarlo. La tutela sobre \u00e9l se prolong\u00f3 hasta 1988, cuando Luis Miguel lleg\u00f3 a la mayor\u00eda de edad y decidi\u00f3 reemplazarlo como manager.<\/div>\n

El 18 de agosto de 1992, la discogr\u00e1fica Sony Music, que hab\u00eda absorbido a Columbia Records, public\u00f3, en formato CD, diez de sus \u00e9xitos. Pocos meses despu\u00e9s, estando en Barcelona, contrajo una neumon\u00eda fulminante y falleci\u00f3, el 9 de diciembre, a los 47 a\u00f1os de edad. Sus restos se encuentran en una urna lacrada, en el cementerio mancomunado de la bah\u00eda de C\u00e1diz.<\/div>\n

was a Spanish singer and songwriter, who stood out for his guitar skills and enjoyed a certain fame and popularity in the 1970s. He participated in various stages in Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico, among other countries. Some of his most outstanding compositions were “El loco”, “El circo” and “In front of a glass of wine.”<\/div>\n

At an early age he ventured into that genre, participating in a contest broadcast by a radio station in C\u00e1diz, in a program called Caf\u00e9 de redacci\u00f3n, promoted and supported by his mother. He won the first prize and that is how he began his artistic career.16 Later, he changed his artistic name to Luis Gas\u00e1n, joining the musical group “Los Joselitos del Cante”, initiating a series of promotional tours in Spain. In 1954, together with his mother, he moved to the city of Madrid, where he participated with a small character in a film entitled Poor rich girl. Later he moved to the city of Barcelona.<\/div>\n

His spouse was the Italian Marcella Basteri, with whom he had three children: Luis Miguel, Alejandro Basteri and Sergio Gallego Basteri. He discovered early on the artistic qualities of his first son, and abandoned his own career to accompany and represent him. The guardianship over him lasted until 1988, when Luis Miguel came of age and decided to replace him as manager.<\/div>\n

On August 18, 1992, the Sony Music label, which had taken over Columbia Records, released ten of their hits on CD. A few months later, while in Barcelona, he contracted fulminant pneumonia and died, on December 9, at the age of 47. His remains are found in a sealed urn, in the joint cemetery of the Bay of C\u00e1diz.<\/div>\n
