Manuel “Manolo” Otero Aparicio. Fue antes actor que cantante. Era hijo de un bar\u00edtono y de una renombrada actriz de revista musical. Se licenci\u00f3 en Filosof\u00eda y Letras.<\/div>\n

En 1963 trabaj\u00f3 durante una temporada de siete meses en los estudios de TVE como ayudante del director de espacios teatrales, Juan Guerrero Zamora.<\/div>\n

La profesi\u00f3n de sus padres fue determinante para que se decidiera a probar suerte como actor. Fue gal\u00e1n joven en la compa\u00f1\u00eda de Mary Carrillo, y represent\u00f3 obras dram\u00e1ticas como “Los Tarantos”, “Madre coraje” de Bertolt Brecht, “La zapatera prodigiosa” de Garc\u00eda Lorca, “La llegada de los dioses” de Buero Vallejo, “Don Juan o el amor a la geometr\u00eda”, entre otras. Durante los a\u00f1os 60, viaj\u00f3 con la compa\u00f1\u00eda Nacional de Teatro Cl\u00e1sico.<\/div>\n

Al tiempo, su fotogenia, y su aspecto f\u00edsico de facciones agradables, le llevaron tambi\u00e9n a actuar en el cine, donde particip\u00f3 en producciones como “Sim\u00f3n Bolivar”, “La araucana”, “El libro de Buen amor”, o “cuentos de las s\u00e1banas blancas”. La pel\u00edcula de m\u00e1s recordaci\u00f3n en la que particip\u00f3 fue “Juicio de faldas”.<\/div>\n

La biograf\u00eda musical de Manolo Otero se inici\u00f3 el d\u00eda en que su amigo Miguel de los Santos lo convenci\u00f3 para que se presentara a un concurso de cantantes : “La gran ocasi\u00f3n”. Manolo Otero prob\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n suerte en el festival de Benidorm, el del a\u00f1o 1968, aqu\u00e9l que gan\u00f3 Julio Iglesias. Ambos viajaron juntos a la ciudad alicantina.<\/div>\n

Manolo Otero tuvo una discreta participaci\u00f3n en este festival aunque no pasaron inadvertidas su voz ni su figura.<\/div>\n

Las primeras grabaciones de Manolo Otero son de 1968: “Nuestro pueblo”, “Laura”, “un beso y un adi\u00f3s”, “D\u00f3nde vas”. Dada la escasa repercusi\u00f3n de estas canciones, y como estaba m\u00e1s solicitado como actor de cine y teatro, Manolo Otero se apart\u00f3 unos a\u00f1os de la m\u00fasica.<\/div>\n

En 1973 contrajo matrimonio con la destacada actriz y vedette Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Cantudo, con quien tuvo un hijo llamado Manuel. Sin embargo la relaci\u00f3n dur\u00f3 apenas cinco a\u00f1os, y se separaron en 1978.<\/div>\n

En 1974 opt\u00f3 por reaparecer musicalmente con una nueva casa discogr\u00e1fica, Emi-ode\u00f3n, empresa con la cual public\u00f3 un sencillo con las canciones “Todo el tiempo del mundo” y “Recuerdos junto al mar”, escrita por el d\u00fao Din\u00e1mico.<\/div>\n

En pocas semanas “Todo el tiempo del mundo” se convirti\u00f3 en n\u00famero uno de las listas, y Manolo Otero pas\u00f3 a ser un cantante de \u00e9xito.<\/div>\n

De su posterior disco, en 1976, destacaron los \u00e9xitos “Que he de hacer para olvidarte”, “Amor imposible”(sinton\u00eda de la radionovela “Lucecita” en la que intervino como destacado gal\u00e1n, haciendo el papel de Gustavo), “Viejo trovador, “Mim\u00ed”, entre otros tantos. Manolo tambi\u00e9n fue autor de algunos de sus temas como “Es bellisima”, o “sigo mi camino”, los cuales tambi\u00e9n resultaron bastante exitosos. Fue tal su fama, que en 1977 particip\u00f3 como artista invitado en el XVIII Festival Internacional de la Canci\u00f3n de Vi\u00f1a del Mar, siendo ampliamente aclamado por el p\u00fablico de la quinta de Vergara.<\/div>\n

Finalizando la d\u00e9cada de los 70, estren\u00f3, en el Teatro Alcanzar de Madrid, la comedia musical “Sugar, sugar”, versi\u00f3n del \u00e9xito cinematogr\u00e1fico “Con faldas y a lo loco”. En este musical, Manolo Otero compart\u00eda reparto con el cantante mexicano Enrique Guzm\u00e1n.<\/div>\n

En 1979 grab\u00f3 un nuevo album , “Para t\u00ed”, en el que se inclu\u00edan versiones de conocidos boleros y tangos, como “Acercate m\u00e1s”, “Yo vendo unos ojos negros”, “Volver”, “Melancol\u00eda”, entre otros.<\/div>\n

En 1980, estren\u00f3 la comedia musical “Lady Mariposa”, con Pastor Serrado y Yolanda Farr. Otro \u00e9xito de comedia musical, fue “Luna de miel en el Cairo”. Cinco a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, colabor\u00f3 con su entonces ya exesposa Maria Jos\u00e9 Cantudo en el montaje hecho por Fernando Garc\u00eda de la Vega, de la revista “Do\u00f1a Mariquita de mi coraz\u00f3n”.<\/div>\n

A mediados de los a\u00f1os 80, Manolo Otero, como otros muchos artistas, decidi\u00f3 abandonar definitivamente su vida en Espa\u00f1a, y se instal\u00f3 en tierras americanas, en Brasil. Los \u00fanicos viajes a Espa\u00f1a desde entonces, se debieron a exigencias familiares.<\/div>\n

En 1986, el artista contrajo segundas nupcias con la colombiana Eddy Cano, pero actualmente estaba casado con la brasile\u00f1a Celeste Ferreira, con quien resid\u00eda en Sao Paulo, y la cual era tambi\u00e9n su actual manager.<\/div>\n

En el a\u00f1o 2002, Manolo Otero sac\u00f3 al mercado un nuevo disco: “Mis canciones italianas”, donde versionaba en espa\u00f1ol grandes \u00e9xitos de la m\u00fasica de ese pa\u00eds.<\/div>\n

El c\u00e1ncer hep\u00e1tico del cantante fue descubierto a inicios del 2011, poco tiempo despu\u00e9s de sufrir el fallecimiento de su madre. Dicho c\u00e1ncer se encontraba en un estado bastante avanzado. Falleci\u00f3 el 1 de junio de 2011, y sus restos fueron cremados.<\/div>\n

Manolo was also the author of some of his songs such as “Es bellisima”, or “I follow my path”, which were also quite successful. His fame was such that in 1977 he participated as a guest artist in the XVIII International Festival of the Song of Vi\u00f1a del Mar, being widely acclaimed by the public of the quinta de Vergara.<\/div>\n
