Fue un m\u00fasico y compositor paraguayo nacido en Asunci\u00f3n el 5 de mayo de 1913 y muerto en la misma ciudad el 18 de diciembre de 1998. Inici\u00f3 su carrera actuando en festivales con el tr\u00edo Melgarejo-Barboza-Feli\u00fa. En 1929 march\u00f3 a Buenos Aires, donde se encontrar\u00eda en 1933 con Jos\u00e9 Asunci\u00f3n Flores, con quien grab\u00f3 \u201c\u00d1asaindype\u201d, la primera guarania grabada en disco. Integr\u00f3 la orquesta Ort\u00edz Guerrero como solista y form\u00f3 un tr\u00edo con F\u00e9lix P\u00e9rez Cardozo y Eulogio Cardozo.<\/div>\n

En 1944 march\u00f3 a R\u00edo de Janeiro para estudiar canto en la Escuela de M\u00fasica de la Universidad. En 1954, a instancias de Luis Alberto del Paran\u00e1, form\u00f3 parte del Tr\u00edo Los Paraguayos junto al arpista Digno Garc\u00eda. En 1994 fue condecorado con la Orden Nacional del M\u00e9rito y en 1997 se le otorg\u00f3 el Premio Nacional de M\u00fasica. Realiz\u00f3 giras por todo el mundo difundiendo la m\u00fasica paraguaya.<\/div>\n

Es autor de unas ochenta piezas, como “Alma Vibrante”, “Flor de Pilar”, “Mi Patria So\u00f1ada”, “Sobre el coraz\u00f3n de mi guitarra”, “Muchachita campesina” (con letra del poeta Carlos Miguel Jim\u00e9nez), “Dulce tierra m\u00eda”, “Viva la vida, Viva el amor” (con letra de Augusto Roa Bastos), “Che r\u00f3ga”, “O\u00f1ondivemi” y “Reservista Purah\u00e9i” con F\u00e9lix Fern\u00e1ndez, entre otras. Escribi\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n el libro Ruego y camino y su composici\u00f3n “Reservista purah\u00e9i” lleg\u00f3 a ser plagiada por Charles Aznavour en 1962, quien tuvo que llegar a un acuerdo econ\u00f3mico con \u00e9l.<\/div>\n

He was a Paraguayan musician and composer born in Asunci\u00f3n on May 5, 1913 and died in the same city on December 18, 1998. He began his career performing at festivals with the Melgarejo-Barboza-Feli\u00fa trio. In 1929 he went to Buenos Aires, where in 1933 he would meet Jos\u00e9 Asunci\u00f3n Flores, with whom he recorded \u201c\u00d1asaindype\u201d, the first guarania recorded on disk. He was a member of the Ort\u00edz Guerrero orchestra as a soloist and formed a trio with F\u00e9lix P\u00e9rez Cardozo and Eulogio Cardozo.<\/div>\n

In 1944 he went to Rio de Janeiro to study singing at the University’s School of Music. In 1954, at the request of Luis Alberto del Paran\u00e1, he was part of the Los Paraguayos Trio together with the harpist Digno Garc\u00eda. In 1994 he was awarded the National Order of Merit and in 1997 he was awarded the National Music Prize. He toured the world spreading Paraguayan music.<\/div>\n
