Es un trompetista y cantante estadounidense conocido por formar parte del grupo Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass o simplemente TJB. Tambi\u00e9n es famoso por ser un ejecutivo de la industria fonogr\u00e1fica -es la letra “A” de A&M Records, un sello de grabaci\u00f3n fundado junto a Jerry Moss.<\/div>\n

Los logros musicales de Alpert incluyen cinco n\u00fameros uno, veintiocho \u00e1lbumes en las listas de Billboard, ocho Premios Grammy, catorce discos de platino y quince discos de oro. En 1996, Alpert hab\u00eda vendido 72 millones de \u00e1lbumes en todo el mundo.<\/div>\n

Nacido en Los \u00c1ngeles, California, Alpert empez\u00f3 a recibir lecciones de trompeta a los ocho a\u00f1os y, siendo todav\u00eda adolescente, ya tocaba en bailes. He is an American trumpeter and singer known for being part of the group Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass or simply TJB. He’s also famous for being an executive in the recording industry – he’s the letter “A” for A&M Records, a recording label founded with Jerry Moss.<\/div>\n

Alpert’s musical achievements include five number one, twenty-eight Billboard chart albums, eight Grammy Awards, fourteen platinum records, and fifteen gold records. By 1996, Alpert had sold 72 million albums worldwide.<\/div>\n

Born in Los Angeles, California, Alpert began taking trumpet lessons at age eight and, as a teenager, was already playing dances. He acquired his first tape recorder in high school, beginning to experiment with recording with this simple equipment. After graduating from Fairfax High School in 1952, he joined the American Army by performing frequently at military ceremonies. After service in the Army, Alpert tried his hand at dramatic performances, but ended up pursuing a career in music. While attending the University of Southern California in the 1950s, he was a member of the USC Trojan Marching Band for two years. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music in 1954.<\/div>\n

Alpert continues to play his trumpet today, but is also pursuing his second career as an Abstract Expressionist painter and sculptor with exhibitions around the United States. He has also worked as a Broadway theater producer, with his production of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America winning a Tony Award.<\/div>\n

In the 1980s he created the Herb Alpert Foundation and the Alpert Awards for the Arts with The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). The Foundation supports youth and arts education as well as environmental issues and relief fund the PBS series “Bill Moyers on Faith and Reason.”<\/div>\n

He has maintained funds for the dissident cultural group known as The Yesmen.<\/div>\n
