Naci\u00f3 en Madrid, aunque sus primeros a\u00f1os de vida los pas\u00f3 entre Sevilla y Algeciras. Desde peque\u00f1a estuvo rodeada de m\u00fasica en su seno familiar. Es hija del cantante Pepe de Luc\u00eda y sobrina del guitarrista Paco de Luc\u00eda. Su madre, Pepi Ben\u00edtez, lleg\u00f3 a ser n\u00famero uno en los 40 Principales con el grupo Arena Caliente en 1972. Alejandro Sanz, amigo \u00edntimo de la familia, compuso para su primer \u00e1lbum la canci\u00f3n que da nombre al disco, Aprendiz. El apodo de Mal\u00fa se lo puso su t\u00eda cuando ten\u00eda solo dos d\u00edas de vida, porque dijo que el nombre Mar\u00eda Luc\u00eda era muy largo.<\/div>\n
